***Mass Effect 2***SPOILER THREAD***

I'm going to play the first one again with the save i used in ME2 (i didn't do the first one twice) and then do ME2 again, but i want to finish my current save for ME2 first so i've got a taste of what it's about for when i replay it.

Yeah I am doing pretty much the same. But I fancy a second play through ME2 as a adapt or vanguard. I wont bother with side missions this time though.

If I enjoy being a adept then I will start ME1 as that and use that as my main save file. Right now I am a soldier :)

I love Sentinel, played as that profession in the first and i'm playing as a Sentinel again in the second.

Infiltrator for me :)

Whilst I barely used the sniper rifle in the first game (I found it pretty useless most of the time) the infiltrator abilities in ME2 are right up my street.

The damage bonus and 60% time slow down for 2.5 secs whilst aiming with a sniper rifle, combined with the widow maker or whatever its called that you get on the collector ship rocks!

I've been thinking about the story, well more specifically the Reapers. Whats everyones thoughts on them? Their motivations, reasons for the 50k year cycle of destruction etc.

What puzzles me most of all is why they allow organic life to progress to the amount they do before finally deciding to wipe them out? Why is it every 50,000 years?

I know on Ilos the Prothean V.I says that they created the Citadel and Mass Relays as a trap to lure organics together into one area to make it easier to wipe them out, however it just seems a bit weird if thats the only reason for building the Citadel and Mass Relays. Its like they arm the thing they want to destroy with weapons that can actually kill them, all on the basis of them falling into a trap they set. Surely thats a bit too strange for such advanced entities.

The Reapers need organics to create more Reapers as we see in ME2, however its whether or not they need them to advance technologically wise which is the big question IMO.

Maybe it's a game? They like a bit of a challenge from their "toys"? It's no fun just squishing them out without them putting up some kind of a fight...

I imagine the resources the organic life bring to the galaxy, like they've lived their purpose.

Just completed it. Did anyone else notice the Back to the Future reference on Legions quest? Was a nice touch :p

That final mission is a bitch to have everyone survive...

Sent Tali through the Vents and Mordin for the Second Team, Tali died to a headshot closing the door.
Samara for the Shield and Garrus for the second team, no-one died.
Took Garrus and Grunt with me for the finale, Jack died.

Could Loyalty have something to do with survival rates too? Tali went back to Normal after i told her to leave Legion alone in the AI core.

Sovereign tells us in the first game that all the civilisations in the galaxy are tricked into taking the same technological path as the reapers to avoid them becoming more technologically advanced than the reapers. As for their true motivations we're still in the dark.

Ahh I must have missed that. So they manipulate each civilization to go down a certain path so they can control them, instead of allowing them to find their own way. Makes a lot more sense now.

Wtf is with the newgame bonus'? Everything i've found stated 10k mineral and 50k cash for level 60. My lvl58 just retrieved his pistol and gained 330k cash and 55k of each mineral.

Oh never mind, just found out after the starting mission. 30k cash and 5k minerals for importing a lvl58, +100k cash for being rich, +200k cash, +50k minerals AND +25% exp bonus for Long Service Record... that achievement bonus is ridiculous.

Finally Tali's been unmasked!

The only thing I found MASSIVELY dissapponinting in the game, was the interaction with previous characters and the inability to explain you were only working with them as you had very little choice.

Basically the entire story + a few minor tweaks with basically everything the same as the first game would have been so so much better, and yet, it was still superb.

TBH, I think they did a brilliant job in the continuity, considering the variation in the possiblities from ME1. Bear in mind how many things they have to account for, choices wise, then offer voiced dialogue and implications based on choices made in both games?

Can't be easy.

I did expect more from the meeting with Ashley, it was very abrupt considering she "loved me", and I did expect some follow up later on. It was great meeting up with Garrus and Wrex too, its the instant familiarity, same voices, different situation. Fantastic.

Like you, I was dissapointed in how things were handled in some respects, but I'll concede them based on the overall scope they had to deal with - although a bit more of a mention of the council wouldn't go amiss, considering how important they are (or were).

Overall, loved it. Best game I've played in a long time, although it made me sad that Yeomans and the rest of the crew died, along with Mordin.

I was a bit dissapointed with the Ashley thing too. Perhaps they were saving it for ME3, but it seemed so... irrelevant. Meeting up with your promoted ex crew member and possible lover and all you get is 1 conversation where she bitches at you and vanishes. Just had no bearing on anything.

As people have stated the Reapers leave their technology as a trap. It also seems that they take what they think of as the most useful race and attempt to make a new Reaper hybrid. Pretty sure EDI stated that is what happened to the Proteans but they didn't work out and so become a more advanced husk (collectors). Even their current form was hinted at being taken from a previous alien race.

Shepard had shown what humans are capable of from ME1 and as was mentioned a few times during ME2 about our diverse genetics. I think the Reapers saw humans as their next upgrade, hence the human Reaper.
The plague in Omega was a collector ploy to rid the galaxy of all but humans so they would be easier to harvest, or so i think. :)

As for them being awake and already on their way. I'm pretty sure the AI on Ilos in ME1 stated that the caretakers on the Citadel had their programming changed around 5,000 - 10,000 years ago by the last few remaining Proteans. The Reapers had probably woken up and known something had gone wrong, started to move in slowly and begun work on their first contingency that is the collectors.
Sovereign could have also activated the collectors before he had found the opportunity to take control of Seran and the Geth.

I destroyed the Heretic Geth base, mainly due to wondering if the Geth would have become unstable with the thoughts of both Veil and Heretic Geth together as one.
