The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Hope so lol xD

I'd not rush into 0.0 or any solo pvp in a battleship any time soon. If I had money to burn I'd possibly considering using an Armageddon in a gang of many ships, since if I'm 1 of many a SP defecit is going to be less noticable!

Hmmmm kind of, depends how big the gang is. We usually ask lower SP members to fly interceptors or interdictors at first and provide tackle so that the more experienced players can put down the dps....

I had to read that a few times before I realised you didn't have that kind of player IN your pirate corp :D

lol yeah, it does read that way :p

Like we used to advise new people (once we'd blown up their ship), just because you can fly something, doesn't mean you should fly it.

My oldest character is from 2004 I think, although haven't really trained him in a couple of years and even he couldn't make the most out a BS.

To make the most out of a bship you will need:

Tech II weapons
Tech II or Faction tank
Tech II heavy drones

High weapon skills in your appropriate weapons.
High tanking skills in your appropriate tank + decent amout of skills that affect structure HP.

Very high general fitting skills, advanced weapon upgrades V, Electronics Updrades V etc etc etc

Very high Nav skills, evasive maneuvering V, Nav V, etc etc etc or it will handle like a barge.

Bship V to get highest DPS.... By this point if you're running level 4's you might as well think about a maurauder....

Some 0.0 corps I know won't even let you fly a bship in combat without all the above.

i was doing lvl4 mission in a raven with 2 mil sp ^^ , never lost a ship either, now fly a tengu with 5 mil sp :D

full rack of caldari heavy launchers and full lows of caldari BCU's.

ROAR! can finish most missions within 20mins , takes me 50mins to do AE+bonus room

if your sensible and do your research you dont need a billion skillpoints

As I said, thats to fly one properly ;)

I think battleships are poor for mission running though, especially when you can get a strategic cruiser and use it very well with pretty minimal skills.

I tend to fly more PVP now, for example two nights ago we found a wormhole that took us 26 jumps behind enemy lines between two 0.0 systems, so we jumped through and started messing stuff up. If I'd of taken a battleship into that it would have died within minutes, but I took in a nano fit drake, stayed alive, and still managed to kill multiple targets.

How on earth did you afford all that faction gear though at your toons age :o

New guy

Hey guys,

Looking to get back into EVE with a fresh new account (didnt like the name/look of my old character :p)

I remember how hard and slow it was to start out, do you guys have a newbie corp to help with the costs of those stupidly expensive learning books and implants? and general learning of the game?

I'm not a total noob, played before doing combat missions and got to level 2 or 3, but I didnt branch out (was all I did) and it quickly became boring, inevitably making me quit. This time I plan to have a go at everything and see what I find fun (exploring looks good).

Thanks!

Edited slightly: managed to get a buddy code from somewhere else

i want a strat cruiser and have all the skills at lvl5 but theyr very expensive. you say theyr better than a bs well they bloody should be theyr 4-5 times the price!!

liking what i've seen so far (so much so that i upgraded from a trial account on the 2nd day XD), completed 4 of the 5 starter mission people, done a bit of mining, on 3mil isk so far (which apparently is not much! :p) seems like a very involved game, just my cup of tea.

I think my 2 accounts are getting on swell right now!

Caytii

Currently speccing for Stealth Bomber, about 27 days and ill be flying a T2 fitted Manticore!

Lossarnach Hulk

Speccing for a PVP Vulcan cannon Cyclone, and a good Munin fit ;)

I fly LOADS of different ships, and im NOT going to list all the fits, as you would know what to expect in a fight, and how to counter me;)

Caytii' ships

Drake
2x Thorax
Caracal
Navy Caracal
Kestrel
Incursus
Osprey

Hulks ships:
Rifter
Wolf
Jaguar
Rupture
Mammoth
Hurricane
Retriever

Makes sense :)
In a proper organised corp/pvp setup I'd happily get told what to do by more experience players. Along with 2 corp mates we're currently looking at changing to a low sec corp to get stuck in with more experience of the game, as its getting a bit monotonous with our current corp being pretty much afk all the time or maybe high sec mining (yawn)

To make the most out of a bship you will need:
Surely that would apply to any ship though! :p
I do understand your point, but a relatively weak battleship is definitely far stronger for missions than my fairly strong cruiser skill based ships. I'm never going to be running a level 4 in one of those anyway. I'd take the big risk in the level 4s any day of the week!

Strat Cruisers do indeed look nice, I'm looking forward to flying a Legion (even though I've heard they're not too great for level 4 mission running)
The issue there is the price! Plus you can fly a Battleship a lot quicker than a T3.
If you can spec me a Legion Strat Cruiser setup that will go through level 4 missions easier than my apoc setup I posted on the previous page I'll be very interested :)

Sigh, just lost a hulk to rats due to it being bugged on an asteroid and unable to warp out. Absolutely hate losing ships like that.
that happened to me back in 2005 in a zealot got bugged on a asteroid , i sent in a petition got my ship back lol

Anyone recommend any good corps for a new player? Currently in Eve Uni and nothing really seems to happen ( was expecting mining runs and pvp runs to be organised frequently?)

Hey guys, just bought a 60 day card, really want to get into this time (4th time lucky)

Could really use some help getting a skill plan together. Currently got 1.7mill, Thorax, few drones and a couple of T2 piece IIRC. I've got EVE Mon installed if there's any exporting tools on it, what's the best way for you guys to get info on my character?

I highly recommend the 101st space marine acadamy based out of warouh (cant remember the exact spelling), it is run by very experienced 0.0 pilots, a few are real US Marines in RL, good ranking structure, they run lots of lessons, even a qualification system, and then you have the posibility of moving out to 0.0 when you are ready if that is what you're after...
