Mass Effect 2 Review

I'm thinking about starting an insanity playthrough seeing as it wouldn't recognise my ME1 save so have to play it again, how hard is it? I'm a soldier btw.

Quite easy for a Soldier (or Infiltrator), just make sure to max out Adrenaline Rush, Disruptor Ammo (for shields and Mechs) and take Armor Piercing ammo as a bonus power (for extra damage to Armor and health). Also I would recommend specializing in Sniper rilfes when you get the choice, since the Widow Anti-matter rilfe is awesome (but you might not be able to take a different weapon if it's a second play through with the same character I'm not sure since I haven't done it).

There will be a few sections that you get stuck on, but most of the game will be a breeze.

I had around 75% on Paragon when I encountered the Jack VS Miranda thingy
I could select the blue option fine.
Recruited everyone and got everyone loyal before IFF
The last mission was breeze everyone survived as some already pointed that
for a tech mission send a tech e.g Tali or Legion
for a teamleader position send Miranda or Jacob.
Biotech send either Samara or Jack.
You can also send the one that you think is the weakest with the "escort the crew back to the ship" mission I send The Doctor with them.
Gonna playthrough on insane as a Sniper.

Can I install just the second disc to avoid having to swap? I don't have room to install both discs.

You can install the second disc, but you'll still have to swap it I'm afraid. You'll only be prompted to do this when you visit Illium for Mirandas loyalty mission, and depending on which order you're playing the game you won't need to change back to disc 1.

Bah that's stupid. I had to swap last night when I discovered a mission on a planet when scanning.

That was when I had to switch to Disc 2, then I think it was swap back to Disc 1 when I entered the Omega 4 Relay. Both discs were installed to the HDD too.

Currently playing through Horizon on Insanity Mode, damn this is hard, defeated the first wave, activated the defense towers, and managed to hold off the attack untill the end, but now I have a huge bug shooting at me, I cant run away as it kills me in about 2 shots, and I cant stay near it for the same reason.... Sigh

Not really a spoiler though :p

Best advice I can give is to put your squad in a safe location where they can still shoot from and walk around cover so it can't hit you, but don't hide behind it because it will get you killed. Just walk around cover in circles while shooting and using powers.

If you're pulling your hair out at this part just wait until a little further into the game ;)

Just run in circles around the boxes closest to the little platform area near the buildings with stairs either side. If you alternate between there and the boxes, you can keep ducking when it fires its lasers. Takes a while, but its easy once you know how to get them.

Hardest part in the game is the first time you come across the moving platforms.

Just complated the game, it was a fantastically enjoyable experience and gameplay wise it improved on the original but the story was a bit meh and allot more underwhelming than that of the first one. I thought the final mission was a bit of an anti climax tbh, all the buisness with the Conduit and Sovreigns attack on the Citadel in the first game was far more 'epic'.

I had all intentions of doing everything but right now I am tempted to forget about side missions, just run like hell through the main story, then restart on a slightly easier setting and do all side quests etc... though that feels a bit like cheating!

The big flying robots are a synch if you keep your distance and make sure there is something between your/its line of fire when it fires its lasers which you have plenty of warning about before he shoots from the blue glow.

Yeah I felt the same to some extent, really enjoyed the game though, just hope ME3 gives us our "OMFG" climax! :p

The ending to Mass Effect was one of the few times I'd say a game has felt truly epic and cinematic, my heart was actually racing to discover what would happen next.

im doing it on insanity and that part was pretty annoying, for the bug part just keep running around and get to cover, what i did and managed to beat it

Hmm, started playing yesterday and clocked in 10hrs already. When does the Vanguard get cool? Have I chosen a weak class or something? I hate the crappy weapons and that charge ability takes me right into the middle of a fight :(

I love the Vanguard. Has got me out of a lot of sticky situations thanks to Shockwave.

Have you got the SMG yet or the better shotguns?

Vanguard was awesome near the end.. That Charge was awesome against finally. I have started it again with my level 24. I did all of the main and loyalty stuff, but didnt get to 30 because I skipped scanning every planet. This is without a doubt the finest RPG I have played in a very long time. If Dragon Age is deeper than this I am missing out on loads :(

It took me around 33hrs. I can't wait to get back into the world. I loved most of the gorgeous looking worlds. Shame the nookie in this game was so awful.
