Leg fallen off...

Perhaps someone more mechanically minded than myself could take a look at my problem and advise. I have sent a message to Joe from Redsnapper but I doubt he will pick it up untill Monday. (I'm off to Cornwall Sunday?!)

The problem: Whilst using the tripod the leg more or less feel off becuase I turned the leg an extra turn too much!!

The bits: Here's what I have to re assemble!!

desktoprw.jpg

1 - thin ring
2 - fat ring
3 - big ring
4 - 2x plastic pads
5 - leg
6 - duo-pod
7 - twist lock tube

What I think I can figure: The fattest two rings wont fit in the actual tripod leg bit as far as I can see. The two white pads clearly sit upon the leg. The thick long ring probably goes somewhere into the locking mechanism. Apart from that I'm stuck. ?? Help?? ;)

Please :(

I did exactly the same within two minutes of ownership! I carefully undid another leg to see how it all went together. The key is that there is a small groove that the re-assembled parts have to sit in within the leg tubes...

Is that the main tube attached to the whole tripod bit or is it the detached section the grooves are in?

Could you elaborate?

EDIT: Can't seem to find grooves other than the holes at the top of the detached leg for the white bits. Do you know roughly where each ring must be placed and which order to put things in/on ect. ect.

Obviously put the twist lock onto the lower leg first! (Can you tell that I didn't do that! :D). The large plastic washer goes onto the lower leg first with the raised rim bottom most, then the smaller ring followed by the last ring. The two plastic halves then fit onto the end of the thinner tube with the circular lugs in the circular cut out in the tube. Then in the larger tube there are two raised grooves, you can feel these with your finger. The two gaps left between the plastic halves fit into these grooves. Tighten up the twist lock to secure it all and you're sorted! :)

N97 to the rescue!:

Yeah, I did that when I was first investigating it as well. It is meant to come apart like that so it can be cleaned, but I agree it's a bit fiddly to put back together again.

Cheerss sorted now!! It was the grooves I didn't notice!!

Thanks again,

Happy to be of help. I had exactly the same problem. The air was blue I can tell you! I had only just taken the thing out of the box and broken it in record time! :D

I distinctly remember my wife retreating to the safety of the kitchen!

Thanks so much for this thread - the exact same thing happened to me earlier today with my redsnapper monopod. I thought it was me being heavy-handed!

Thanks for your help in explaining how to put it back together and posting pics - its all back in one piece now :D

Just one quick question though - is this the make up for all models of redsnapper tripods/monopods?

Thanks again!
