Patriot PS-100

finally got round to installing today and so far it's not bad but not what i was expecting from a ssd, it's about the same as a normal sata hdd :( hopefully the new FW sorts it, not much more to add until then

strange that ocuk have de-listed them??? maybe Patriot have recalled them or something

I think it could be to do with me.
I ordered one and recived a Patriot Warp v2 i emailed them went back on the site the next day and they had been removed.
Did anyone atchally recive the PS-100

looks like it's back clicky
there's also a beta firmware update out on the Patriot site here with another one due out in the next 2 weeks or so that will add trim and boost performance

here's my bench's without the updated firmware

i'm waiting to update when the next one come's out but others on there forum are reporting it is faster so once it's got trim and boosted performance looks like a good little drive and may have to get another :D

This is the sort of price I'm waiting for SSDs to drop to, to use as a boot drive. Games can go on a standard drive until I can get a 500gb+ SSD for this price :p

The Intel Value looks best bet at the moment, but is still expensive. I think the next range this year might have something for me :)

Little update from my with my new HDD. As I don't want to put my new SSD into my PC until it's got the new firmware out, I decided to test it out on my laptop. It's an Acer 2930z (Intel C2D 2GHz, 4gb ram) and the below results are the laptops standard 250gb 5400rpm HDD.

NOTE: In case it affects results, the standard laptop HDD had all my normal stuff on it (programs, music, photos etc) and I've just discoverd it was 13% defragmented, while the SSD results further down was with just a clean install of W7, Firefox and AVG installed

My write results seem a lot higher than yours razer

Yer, hoping for a bit more from this new firmware in a couple of weeks, as well as TRIM (whatever the hell that is, can't remember what it is apart from being important in Windows 7) before I put it into my main PC. Hoping to put on the OS and some programs and maybe......1 game??!?! :p

yes a little higher but i used the 1000mb test haven't tried the others, to be honest i'm waiting for the next firmware to come out as others on there forum are having problems with the one that's out at the mo (2.008 i think) as it's wipes the drive during the update so until then it's just going to be sitting there......... hopefully not much longer till i can use this drive

So you did buddy, my bad, I didn't notice the extra 0 on the end there! My SSD is now in my case.....just not connected to the MB :D

Is there any confirmation anywhere that upcoming firmware is going to fix the 4K read/write speeds?

Atm they really are quite shocking but if they can sort them out to something better than a normal HDD these might be worth a punt for the price. Obviously they will never compete with the higher end drives but being better than a mechanical HDD would be nice!

would like to know this too, if so i will purchase one.

with-in the next couple of weeks according to patriot, the "beta" currently out (2.008) is to fix instability problems some users were experiencing but the next one adds trim and is ment to increase speeds to the advertised spec's of ~210MB/sec read and 150MB/sec write

clicky to firmware page
