The infestation multiplayer mode is comedy gold lol. Everyones laughing at the start when they constantly kill the alien then as soon as the first guy drops it starts getting more and more tense! Really good laugh
 
getting a prob trying to play online when i go to quick match my game hangs ive never used steam until a couple of days ago am i missing something or do i need to deactivate something like my AV,or windows firewall. It only hangs when i click on find a game or try to join a game from a list so i don't think it's a game problem but a problem somewhere else

I've had two trouble like this with avp. Was working fine at install on ati 10.1s and windows 7 and it was a completly fresh install done the night before (new pc woo). But a few days later i got avp to hang whenever i tried to join anyone elses party through friends list or quick match. In the end a reinstall sorted it but reset my score.

The afterwards i had a more similar problem to you where the game would hang during the loading screen, to sort that i reset pc, ran game in dx9 mode, then reset then started steam and it came up with a compatability issue, checked steam wasn't running in compatability mode (guess this was for dx9 settings). Ignored next warning it gave me and it's been running in dx11 since. Oh i also installed 10.2 catalysts sometime in this time frame but that didn't fix it once i rn dx11 after i installed those drivers.
 
spo you suggest i try a re-install before i investigate any further?

kinda i go to search for games find them with the names and players as soon as i click join it hangs the screen freezes and don't move if i ctrl alt del it say there was a problem

I sold it to another friend in 2 days... it was so easy to complete in single player with all 3 species >.<

Interesting. I had to turn AA down to x1 to get smooth gameplay (everything else on max). I know you're running x-fire but all the same, I thought my performance issue might be a lack of VRAM running very high textures and high AA.

NM, I think it's the DX11 launcher - it be fooked (kapitan obvious and all that eh)

Well after getting let down by play.com, I decided to pick the game up from Tesco and with a friends employee discount it only cost me £20.

Already I deem that cost justified and I've only played about an hour of the marine campaign. Absolutely love the game, its everything I was wishing for and more. Atmosphere is great, sounds is great, lighting is great. Also, I am running the game full blast DX11, with 2XAA and haven't had a single crash all night.

Good job Rebellion.

How awesome is the part where you fight the first predator. The music, the lightening, I was in awe.
 
Just completed the whole game in all three campaigns.

Loved it... been waiting for game like his since the first AVP.

Multiplayer is a blast also... well worth 20 quid.

Its rock paper scissors tbh depending on who sees who first and the skill of the players involved. If an alien is playing like a marine, aka running around on the floor instead of scaling the sides of the walls of the level instead, you'll get repeatedly owned by marines and predators lol.

I got a 6 kill streak earlier as marine, 2 predator and 4 alien kills from this highly retarded playstyle! Ended up with 28 kills 10 deaths as marine in species dm and im not exactly awesome.

The best predators use the high points of the level for ranged kills and the shadows and choke points for melee.

Best aliens never use the floor and scale the sides of walls instead, forcing marines and predators to keep looking up and down (especially good on temple level).

With marine just remember you have sprint and use it often plus get into areas which dont favour melee combat (ie most of the outer part of the temple level due to it being cramped corridors and an open ceiling lol)

Highly recommend you try the infestation or predator hunt modes, both are superb

My better half has had to request re-delivery online twice for a recorded parcel, which should in theory come today...

I'm able to run with everything on max & 4xaa with 2x5770's@stock in Xfire. Fps is around 45-65@1680x1050. Using the Dx11 exe on Win7 x64.

I'd have thought a 5870 would have handled 4xaa without any real problems, unless you're wanting fps consistantly above 60 to run with v-sync ?
 
Postie knew nothing about my parcel, looks like another day without AvP, unless by luck the parcel had already been put in the van driver's york due to size/weight in a postie's pouch... :(
