Paintball

My friends and I, many moons ago all bought our own guns and ammo and gas. We spoke to a local landowner who said he was ok with us paintballing in his woods. We used to have to most epic games. None of this rush and shoot business. Some of our games went on for hours on end. Proper bedding down, recon work and sniping. Had a few night games trying to 'storm the fortress' with one on the fortress having a massive torch. Lots of booze inlolved as well.

Brilliant. :D

Sold all my stuff now though :(

thats the kind of thing i was hoping, to stealth approach and hide somewhere then ambush the enemy.

with the organised events its like 5 minutes a round or until your out of balls or hit. :o

Im going paint balling tomorrow for the first time at a site in Kegworth, no idea what its like but should be awesome.

Seems to have the same pricing as delta force, £10 entry then £6.99 per 100 balls

I've never seen a dropped pellet break. If they were that fragile they'd never survive insode the hopper.

The problem is the skin goes hard and fragile once a force is applied. They also deform and so don't fit the barrel properly. As well as mud and dirt. They are far more likely to brake in the barrel, after that every single one will break in the barrel and you game is over and they will have to clean the gun. It really isn't worth a lost game for £2

If you want to have a little fun, just make sure you take a cool box with plenty of packs of ice in it. Put the battle pack pots in there with the paintballs to keep them dry and when you load up your hopper they are fine.

They won't break very often on impact but you will certainly know if you hit someone.

And before any one starts bleating on about how dangerous this is, you will never cause them to freeze and in essence has the same effect as playing during winter.

The name says it all really Delta Force = Most expensive.

they are a company aimed at the masses who dont realise that the £6.99 is expensive.

My advise would be find an independant paintball sight they are a lot more reasonable.

Agh, how did I miss this thread.

Get yourself a decent electro marker (£200 2nd hand for something that'll shoot 15-30 balls/s) and start playing walk-ons or even tournament paintball. Most tourney ballers and walk-on players pay around £25-£30 per case of 2000 for good quality paint (breaks on target, not in your marker, flies straight) and maybe £10-£15 for their entry fee to a walk-on. Not only that, but you get to play with people who play fair, know the rules and aren't dudes trying to prove they're hard on a stag do. It's like playing a good server vs one full of noobs and nuke-boosters...to put it in gaming terms. Or get yourself to the warped big game and play an all day non-stop game with two teams of 700-a-side on a real MOD training base ( http://www.northvsouth.com/ ).
Paintball is awesome when you get out of the rental day experience and really see what it's about.

Besides, the gear makes you look ninja. :D

I went for my 25th with 12 mates in october to Delta Force - Leeds and had an excellent day. However it was a killer buying paintballs for £6.99 per 100. It hurt way more shooting some than getting shot - knowing everytime you shot someone 7p went flying out the end of your gun!

Why do they charge such extortionate prices? You can get 2000 for less than £20 on ebay. £5 for 500 sounds much better to me

Post here if you love paintballing but hate them charging you about a 1000% markup price. (They will get them for probably £10 for 2000)

I will be visiting ebay for 4000 balls before we go again, hopefully this month

It's because when you're there, you're a captive audience. A brilliant money spinner. Most people will have to buy their over priced ones. Same sort of thing as festivals not allowing you to take your own beer into the arena.

As above, paint is the site's bread and water (and funds a lot of the other activities regular paintballers enjoy). Running a paintball site is not as lucrative as one might think once running costs are taken into account. Delta Force are rubbish though, You want to hit Skirmish Bristol!
