I Hate Car Insurance

Not looking forward to my renewal.

Anyone have any idea how much quotes are affected by an accident whereby liability is still in dispute (likely to go 50/50)? Can't really see any options to state an 'unsolved' claim.

Eugh. Got the fun of all this in the next few weeks. I wonder if any classic companies will beat bells quote for a 18 year old with an accident to his name. (£624! fully comp!)

When I had my mini I was with HIC and always had great quotes and service.. still with them even tho I'm on a standard ****box car now as they matched a comparison site quote.

my missus is involved in a disputed £6k claim, added about £50 to her premium until resolved

unresolved is the same as blame in my experience

no it not a ST I wish it was. It just a Zetec with 18in Alloys, 2.0tdci

Mine's a Zetec-S 2.0 TDCI...postcode lottery I guess! Just surprised because you're a few years older than me

newer cars are more expensive though, mine was £525 on a mk2 with only 1 year ncb, this is tpft, his is no doubt fully comp on a car worth around 9K.

Tried a re-quote with a 59 plate Mondeo and it's practically the same price. A 330d is 380ish and a 330i about 395. Maybe I'm just lucky :D

I am so pleased this thread came up ive been wanting to have a good moan about car insurance companies.

My daughter has been learning to drive and we got the insurance for approx £1200 as she has her own little car too... she has about 3 months left before she is due for renewal and has passed her test last week.. A test to say that she is competent enough to drive on the roads alone...yes...
Well according to insurance company she has to pay another £384 within 28 days because she has passed her test and by herself in the car and is classed at a higher risk......rubbish absolute ******* rubbish.. shes passed her test to drive safely and now she gets punished for doing so...Further more the £384 is for the remaining 3 months on her policy god knows what its going to be like for 12 months..
Anyway thought you should know just incase anyone finds themselves in the same position we are..

They ARE higher risk once they've passed their test - suddenly they're driving unaccompanied, driving at night, driving on unfamilar roads and generally venturing out further from the home town - that's when the accidents can happen.

Just insured with Direct Line, little standard Polo for just under £200 fully comp, they took my bike no claims and used it on the car which was bloomin' nice of them, had other companies quoting me over £600 which when this >..< close to forty for a 1.3 Polo got laughed at.

Had exactly the same experience as LordMike, my Bell renewal quote came in £150 more than last year, ran a quote online and it was £100 less than last year.

Shopped around a bit and no one could beat it so accepted the new bell quote.

Ironic how it's all part of the same company.

well it makes sense, if all the sister companies rates were the same their wouldnt be any need for the sister companies, so they cover more of the insurance market by having different rates for different risk factors. aslong as they willing to match prices if the sister companies are cheaper i dont really see a problem

25 this time with 4 years NCD and no accidents, hoping for a decent premium. For me alone the MX-5 is about £600 with Greenlight, £1k with the other half added who has two recent accidents, one fault.

I'm hoping I can screw The RAC or AA down to under £200 this year..
I think it runs out in the next week or so as the postal dross from other companies has started to arrive through the letterbox.

Renewed my insurance pretty much at the same time as buying the alfa, slight increase.

31yr main driver, 28 yr old wife named, no others, value 7.5k, FC, 7yrs NCB, £200 excess, full breakdown cover :) over Spain, etc.

£322.05 - chuffed as it only increased by £95 over the Leon.

I hate my car insurance (eCar, I'm dumping them this year), looking into getting a new car soon, so they want £588 to run upto June, lol, which is fair enough it's a car with over double the HP my current car has and I'm only into my 2nd year of NC's. Now, you would think adding a Father (30 years driving experience, over 5 years NC's), and a sister (about 8 years driving experience, all of them no claims) would reduce the price.... well no, bumps it close to the £800 mark, lol. On the contrast I could lose a years no claims by cancelling my policy, get a new policy with only 1 years no claims, named drivers of father and sister, and get a full years cover from Admiral for £840, lol.

I just had my renewal from Direct Line on the 530d (E60) and despite an extra year of NCB they still wanted an extra £100 for next year.

got a quote from Admiral for exactly what I'm paying now and DL matched it which is good.

It's still stupidly expensive though (£1200).
Roll on March 2011 when I'll be 25 and should hopefully get much cheaper insurance.
