I have read that when launching the game you have the option to authenticate with the cd in drive or activate online.
When I get mine I am going to use the cd method as i think the online activation might be a sneaky way of locking the game like it does with steam so you cannot sell the game on should you wish to later on.
 
With the online activation you can basically install it 10 times on different computers without needing the disk to play, each time say your computer changes hardware, you need to use another install to play the game, unless you revoke the activation before you change hardware.

1) You install the game, goes from 10 activations to 9, your mobo blows up and you need to replace it, you re-install the game and your activations goes from 9 to 8.
2) You install the game, goes from 10 activations to 9, you revoke your activation which makes it go from 9 back to 10, change your hardware and then install it once again, your activations go back to 9

Top 100 for me , I'll be playing 'till 5 every night. Spent about 120 hours playing BETA but just got bored with that Port Valdez ****.

SP is good I thought. MW2 sucks and is short. But, the game was good and varied.

Must we have spoilers?? I know it's not a huge plot point but I wasn't expecting that kind of gameplay. Would have been nice to have been surprised.
 
This may be a silly question, but what is conquest? Is this like on 2142 where you have that flag, and you have to capture all the bases?

Pretty much, you have 2 bases, 1 for each side, and 3 flags in the middle of the map which you have to capture.
 
So the general consensus is that this rocks? I've cancelled my pre-order with &&&&.com and will probably buy via Steam as I prefer using Steam.

Pretty much , some people complained about the lag but other than that it's the next best thing. Beats CoD hands down and since I've played BC2 I can't get any interest in playing BF2142 any more.
 
I did try the beta when it was first released however the lag was awful.

I'm a bit dubious about buying it, however I'll probably give it a whirl.

It seems as though quite a few of my friends are going for it anyway.

Also, your forgetting the killcam, anyone with some experience of the map will be able to tell where you were..

Saying that, having the coloured guns in MW is cool..

For the first 2 days the lag in the beta was dreadful. It was eventually fixed.

Killcam is for kids, no killcam in hardcore mode :cool:
