1Ghz 5870 18% faster than GTX480 in Heaven with Tessellation off!

Well going by toms it only confirms that rhys is right, we all can cherry pick results ;) a 5850 overclocked will match or beat 260SLI in most scenarios.

Lol! Touchy:p
Yes but 5850 OC'd still = 260SLI Get over it!

Tom's hardly the best source either!

Not touchy, I just prefer to read and indulge in sensible debating, not childish fanboi outbursts like the majority of your posts :p

Looking at your profile it says your 26, surely not  ;)

Guess you don't see the irony in that post!
LMAO :D

Gotta get down to your level haven't I ;)

Anyway I missed the fact that you said OC'd 5850 so therefore you are right, my mistake I apologise :o but don't forget that 260s in sli can be oc'd too :)

I'd say id be glad when these cards are finally out and we have real benchmarks and an end to the constant bickering, but i doubt that'll happen. fanboyism is a strange thing indeed :p

And for the Fanboy outburst...

I guess you must have missed my previous post

I'm waiting for Fermi to launch and some proper benchmarks to come out before deciding what will be my next card(s). Although it's looking more and more likely that it'll be one from the red team.

No fanboy here I'm afraid, just want the best card for my money.

Not sure if real or not?

Calm down, clam down :D

The fact was stated that an overclocked 5850 matches two gtx260 in SLI which was instantly shot down in flames by two posters with no proof that it wasn't true just their blind belief that it could't possible be true.

The fact is that an overclocked 5850 does equal two gtx260's in SLI at stock.

Nobody is arguing that you can then overclock the gtx260 which of course you can and they are then faster again.

It was the same in 5850 vs 5870 thread where the same claim was made that an overclocked 5850 equals a stock 5870.

In that case though even when both are overclocked to the max, the 5850 is within 5% of the 5870 and in some games matches it but the point is it costs over £100 less.

Whatever side of the camp you are on, you must admit that a card for under £200 which when overclocked easily and simply gives you the performance of a gtx295 or two gtx260's with dx11 thrown in is indeed a great bang for buck card.

The problem is that so much time has passed since the 5 series launch that people are expecting Nvidia to come out with a card which matches 5850 in xfire or a 5970 but costs £200. I only wish that this was going to be true.

I think that GPUZ is a fake btw unless it can't read the right info from the card - 2 bits of info on it relate to the GTX275 and some of the other info doesn't match the A3 cards they've been using.

EDIT: Thie BIOS string, device id and vendor all match a GTX275 and the texture fillrate and memory speeds should be approx. double what they are. The bios string should start with atleast 74.

I dont think I will be giving up my Tri sli 280s for any 5870 or gtx480 just not worth it.

so on actual heaven game website theres only v1.0 benchmark, while in test it shows v1.1. and also it says that in optimized v1.1 theres a 30% increase of performance in benchmark.

so knowing nvidia and its market tricks, its possible that tests for nvidia card were made on 1.0 while radeons on 1.1

:D

im just saying that i think that this benchmark is bs, and the actual card will be roughly 30% better than 5870 on stock frequencies
