The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Oh - and some extra drone skills won't do you any harm - even in a Drake you've got room for 5 lights, and some of the drone skills can increase your DPS quite quickly.

Cheers jay, isnt it kind of pointless getting frig 5 tho when i have my drake? i assumed it was good pvp/pve. Im def working on the heavy missiles then grabbing some cruiser missiles.

Ive been looking at the heavy assault ships etc but their shields/armor seem really low, i take it their speed and maneouverabilty increase their survivability due to them being harder to hit?

Already on the drones aswell, training is taking a while tho :<

The basic stats on the Heavy Assault ships are missleading. The resists are really high on them, and buy the time you can fly them (even at bare minimum skill level) the ship will be a lot better than its base stats suggest :)

I got pod killed about an hour ago forgot to renew my clone, now i am deep in 0.0 space in an osprey.

I have 2million skills to lose.

I'm going to have to make a run for it sometime, and try to renew my clone.

Bigger isn't better in Eve - well, it can be, but not necessarily. There are a lot of specific roles that are best carried out by small ships like interceptors, covert ops frigs that bigger ships just can't carry out as well - in PVP anyhow. Once you're familiar with their roles and have some experience of using them in that role you can become a real asset to a corp that otherwise might not accept you due to lack of skill points.

HAC's are alright, but the Caldari ones aren't great. If you want HAC's I'd cross train minmatar or gallente.

nah, minmatar and amarr hacs are good, gallente are a bit meh tbh. for pvp anyway. ishtar is good for pvp, and used to be quite a good nanofag ship.

It was the Ishtar I was referring to, I've not used one myself (am Caldari and haven't crossed to Gallente yet) but a lot of my corp mates do, and they swear by them.

I only pvp in eve these days, and I just find hacs in general abit meh. They have their uses but:

Ishtar has no focus, makes it abit meh for PVP, zealot is tight on fittings and low on DPS, Vaga is a good ship, the rest are junk really. Yes you can get some good DPS stats, but the overall combination of slots, HP, price, DPS etc only really make them average and not really anything to aim for.

My advice for the newer guys is to go for battle cruisers, i get 50% of my kills in them and there no big deal if they die.

LOL, the zealot does loads of damage with 5 tech 2 heavy pulse lasers, you obviously do not fly one and do not know what your talking about!

I new that was coming.

Dude I fly every amarr and gallente ship there is.

5 HPL2 is not that much DPS. To use 5 HLP2 you have a paper thin tank or buffer and you will die to moment anything locks on to you.
(573DPS @ 11k)
The zealot is much better suited to being a short-med range sniper either nanno and scorch and Beams and tracking enhancers.

For example you can get 1000DPS out of a Diemos, doesn't mean its any good. No one flys them.

As for a 740DPS Ishtar, well 5 ogre's that's a given, then you would need 3 neutron blasters and 3 MFS, and a MWD. That will leave you with about 100 power and 120 CPU to fit some kind of buffer and tackle. 740DPS is all well and good, but when you have 10k HP, you will die in a fire. Like I said its just meh.

Ishtar is much better at a dump your drones and kite setup (dual rep and ewar), but any competent pilot knows that once the drones are gone or if there using sentry drones just approach and orbit them and there not a threat.

EDIT: Navy Vexor does a much better DPS fit than an Ishtar.

738dps (778 overloaded) with all level 5. 718 with my skills. 45k EHP. Enough nossing to keep you up against a heavy neut. Choice of drones for almost all situations you can run into. And because you're in the thick of it with your drones, you can scoop and redelpoy as soon as they start taking damage.

It's a beast, I've over 300 kills (mainly solo) with that and my old nanofag setup.

Swap the invuln for a EM hardener depending on where you're roaming.

Just had an amazing night of PvP.. Check out the kills from tonight:
http://www.gentlemen-in-space.com/killboard/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=56868

And I didnt get on a lot of the kill mails due to having to warp out etc. Was really good fun. I hope we dont have any AAA, Section 13, Darkside or Red Alliance players here? :p

Im very broke at the moment for a variety of reasons, so have been flying interceptors the last few days.. Forgot how good fun they were.

I'm strongly considering resubbing atm, game installed and fully patched just a matter of clicking a few buttons.

Anyway I'm curious as to what I should aim to do next.

My char was created in 2005 but due to never really getting into the game much i have like 12million SP. I basically concentrated on mission running and last time I quit I was in a CNR with a nice plex large shield booster.

So what next? I could go for a golem and make lvl4 missions fast, but that kinda seems dull. I've also thought about nighthawk/Ishtar to try solo'ing lvl5s and I'd love to learn about complex's, wormholes, exploration etc. Don't know where to begin there, any links or advice would be appreciated.

Of course the one thing that I really should do is get a corp, I think thats why I've never really lasted longer than a month sporadically over the years. Need a goal!

Get a corp, and do some PvP. Or, if pure PvP isn't your thing there is always a plethora of wormhole corporations recruiting, you could give that a go.

Let me know if you think you might fancy 0.0 life, might be able to get you a place with my corp. We have constant PvP roams, but a very safe little home pocket of nullsec as well so it eases the learning curve quite some.

Would your corp be interested in some lower skill players? ie around 4 million skill points?
Me and 2 of my current corp mates are bored of the inactivity within our corp and want some action. :)

I'm in game looking for things to do am going through some training missions now. Really want to get into 0.0 I think.. do some pirating and exploring and general pvp stuff.. whats the best way look for these kinds of corps? am playing between 10pm till 1am most evenings..
