Ahem....83.7Kmh in Samoens in Feb, measured on my HTC Hero with My Tracks. The clouds and snow came down and visibility was pap and I couldn't do another run.

Shame I didn't know about this app when I was skiing last week. Would have been really interesting to know how fast I was going at full pelt (which happened a lot).

85kph is damned fast though! Were you straightlining and what sort of run were you on?

It was a long red but not particularly steep. Didn't straightline 'til I was half way down. May have another crack this morning but we'll see. I'm more interested in just enjoying the skiing

I agree the skiing is much more fun... but when you have an empty piste ahead, and you're feeling crazy it's always good fun!

Where abouts are you Skiing? Get doing some proper black and off piste, thats much more fun than going really fast.

Much more thrilling looking over the edge of an almost vertical un-skie'd mountain then dropping off the side into it. Beats doing a red run a full speed by loads. You have to actually look and think were to turn or you end up bailing fast and hard Combine this with off piste and trying to navigate your way out of trees where no one has been and you have perfection

Just dont go too far off the piste or you could end up stuck (like me and a mate almost did)

Thanks FF. Yep, this is just a bit of fun. Skiing is much more than that and yes I ski blacks when the mood takes me and am well aware of the diverse nature of different terrain.
