UbiSoft servers are down again this weekend

Interesting reading. Seems like pinging does absolutely nothing to modern network systems.

Edit:- I'm wrong http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping_flood But surely a server can be set to not respond to a ping?

Don't you mean some people said they should DDoS the ubi servers on a public site?

Much in the same way people here have "coordinated" to kill the pm/the majority of celebrities/ deport all the black/brown people/deport the BNP/murder the Bulger killers/murder anyone who kicks a moose in the nuts.

Just because people said it on the internet doesn't mean they did it or are even capable of doing it.

More likely that ubi's servers just failed/needed maintenance/an update to update the DRM and saw this as a great excuse, or if it was done by people you can bet it's not the sort of person who posts on public forums about it.

If it was a DDoS attack then yeah this is some great DRM you've just given every retard on the internet the ability to stop legitimate customers using thier games.

As I said presumably any online service is just as much at risk of this it just takes someone to coordinate it and enough annoyed pirates to carry it out.

If you dont like the DRM fair enough dont buy the game but dont support those whose illegal acts prevent genuine consumers from using something they have paid for. The sales figures will determine whether the DRM stays not a bunch of losers in the bedrooms 'pinging' while their mums cook their fish fingers.

P.S bringing Bulger and racism into a thread about games is really off - leave it out.

THe suggestion on here seems to be that this was a genuine protest about the DRM - it clearly wasnt it was a bunch pirates annoyed that they couldnt play the game for free. Nothing more nothing less.

I thought this was going to be cracked in 24 hours, or was it a couple of days, no maybe it was next 'Tuesday' or a is it a few months which is the current 'update'.

I think the main issue with this sort of DRM is that UBIsoft is not Microsoft. That is to say that it is not inconceivable that they could one day go bust.

And if that happened, you can longer play any of the products you have purchased from them.

They have already stated that if they were to ever take the server offline then a patch would remove the drm. If ubi went bust somebody would still buy off the assets so there's no reason to think that the game would ever stop working for good.

Ok i bought SHV and so far when i can play it i more often then not lose save games because of server problems and don't tell me they are under attack all the time. N111ck sorry m8 your wrong don't know about AC2 but SHV has been well and truly cracked. How do i know well i was one of the idiots that thought this drm would mean for once me the honest legit player would have one over on my friends who i don't think have bought a game in the last four years and what happens i go see them and bang there it is on his pc running without any of the problems i have thanks fro that ubi. He also has the missions so not sure where the "it's cracked but not missions" thing comes from.

Ubi are an incompetent bunch of muppets first they screw SHIII for anyone stupid enough to not be using xp and now with SHV they have managed to release a game where ONLY paying customers have mega problems. Thats putting aside the fact that as a game of it's type SHV is completely dumbed down console fodder.
