UbiSoft servers are down again this weekend

At the people blaming the pirates for bringing down the servers... It doesn't matter whos "fault" it is. The fact remains that if one small group of people can bring down an entire server and prevent thousands of people from playing the game they paid for, then the DRM is of poor design.

At the people saying it's pathetic pirates complaining they can't crack it... er... both were cracked on the day it came out...

How many times?!?! Neither game has a full working crack that's why the pirates are trying to bring down ubi's servers - it's a childish tantrum. "I can't play with the toys so neither can you!!!" it's pathetic.

If the games were cracked they wouldn't be attacking the servers.

SH5 is comnpletly cracked and working AC2 is the once with difficulties iirc.

Re. SH5 from a well known piracy site...

I cant belive people say this game works.

Please show me ANY torent site where there are people leaching and saying it works. It allways crashed especially on 2nd mission, unless you start editing the campaign. And even then your upgrades and other stuff doesnt work.

It might take some months before this gets cracked and i assume one of the people who are cracking it needs to finish the game first in order to be able to reverse engeneer the copy protection.

Aside from the DDOS issues has anyone had any issues at all playing AC2? I've not had any pauses or anything - its a bit weird not having to save just seeing the little square thing every now and then.

It is a very good game though.

Whats with the assumption?

Theres a difference anyway. Pirates can't play it yet. Legit buyers can't play it randomly anytime anywhere anywhen be it there fault or Ubisofts.

So... you are believing what Ubisoft are telling you, doing forget Ubisoft MAKE the game, and they are responsible for the DRM. They would say anything to cover up their own foul up. Saying it is "pirates having a tantrum" is a ridiculous thing to say. Whoever is responsible is simpy protesting against the DRM. The fact still remains if a small group of people, maybe even one person, can bring down a server and prevent thousands of people from playing then DRM is obviously a waist of time. I bet when Unbisoft decide they are going to shut down the server and the game is no good at all, and you can't even trade it in because they retail stores refuse to take it - then you won't be holding Ubisoft's hand lol.

Also, for those that say they can't see it on torrent sites. Torrent sites are the LAST of the pecking order. They wouldn't get it for a while anyway.

All the quotes and info I have referred to on here have come from various torrents, release and piracy related sites NOT Ubisoft.

A thread on a torrent site with hundreds of posts about how people are annoyed that the game hasnt ben cracked and how they are going to DDOS the Ubi servers is not a protest about DRM - its a hissy fit about not getting the game for free. Do you really believe the DDOS will continue if the game got cracked?

If you can supply any evidence that contradicts anything I have said then post away.

I love the way everyone is blaming the publisher for the actions of pirates...

I still stand by DRM removal and making copyright infringement and distribution criminal offences, it would seem to happily solve the complaints about inappropriate use of DRM while still ensuring that intellectual property is protected, I can't understand why so many are opposed to the idea... Apart from that they want DRM removed so they can take intellectual property without consent more easily...

I really enjoy the Silent Hunter series of games and still play 3 and 4.

I would like to play 5 too but am waiting to see how the DRM pans out, I always buy my games and never play pirated/cracked versions.

I don't like the idea of being unable to play a single player game because a server is down or NTL/Virgin are having an off day, it's part and parcel of multiplayer but not single player.

I am hoping Ubisoft remove the DRM in the near future. If they produced quality games (Oblivion, Fallout 3 etc) then perhaps they would sell more copies, I'm guessing folks buy cracked/pirated copies because the game isn't worth the retail price.

People are blaming the publisher for an awful DRM system. The pirates have merely highlighted the obvious flaws we knew would exist when it was implemented. This time it was pirates, next time it may be their servers catching a cold, your ISP dropping the ball, your router throwing a paddy. Having to be connected to the Internet to play an offline game is a daft idea.

As for people being against DRM removal, I know of no-one opposed bar the publishers? Why would people take issue with copyright infringement and distribution becoming a criminal offense if they weren't pirates? (As a photographer I would welcome the idea, though it seems the Digital Economy bill is only serving to weaken our position with copyright through the 'Orphan works' legislation - another matter entirely :D)

if you make it criminal you'd have to charge a huge portion of the population.

Copying your CD to your pc is ok (but only if there is no DRM on the disk), but then copying it again to your mp3 player is piracy.

And lots of other retarded details.

While not as extreme an example.

I think making copyright infringement criminal would be like prosecuting for small cannabis possession.

Hugely expensive very hard and expensive to detect/prove and resulting in a massive chunks of the population getting criminal records.

It's just not worth the cost.

Why would people take issue with chopping a thieves hands off if they weren't thieves?

Er, because one might be considered justice and the other barbaric? Extreme example much? I presume you don't see the difference between life sentances and capital punishment either?

I see what you're saying, fair point :)

Not only that, but it would take up a lot of time/resources from the justice system (which is already stretched). Copyright infringement hardly compares to rape, murder etc...

so all those kids who upload a video on youtube and have music playing in the background should have criminal records....that isn't extreme ?
