£8-9k sporty car with better fuel consumption than RX8?

What a completely meaningless statement, given many sports cars don't handle at all

Really, like what? The only sports car I can think of that dont handle that well are things like the Audi TT, but then, its fwd 4wd thingy ma do makes it not fit the definition of a sports car? Rear wheel drive, front engined, soft top is what I thought made a sports car.

Well, I do about a thousand miles a month...that's a lot of fuel and oil in the RX. Compared to the Yaris I currently drive, but that's a given. :p

I guess you're right; the difference is minimal. It's a big step up from a Yaris though, I'm probably just nervous. I get 47.7p per mile at work too, so the cost is covered, but I suppose I just wanted to know if there were 'better' options out there.

So the issue is distance, rather than cars for sale :p

get travelling, you might find a gem :)

haha, yeah more so. I need to wait until I am 25 (June) to help the insurance and also wait until I have paid a family loan off (hopefully June/July) before I can seriously look, then I'll get travelling.

To say I am excited is an understatement, I've driven a 1997 Vauxhall Corsa since I passed my test at 17. It's a lovely oxidised red colour! :(

Don't forget that as most people are scared of the RX8, the values have bombed. £7k gets what, an 04-05 plate?

How much is an 04-05 330Ci? Try £13k. How much is an 05 plate anything that offers the same concept as an RX8? More than £7k...

Are they scared for good reason, though?

No, they just hear 20mpg, uses oil and ****le engine and run a mile.

They are very nice cars, but nobody buys them as you can run something much more exotic and faster for the same money.

What is the insurance like on them?

I know a mate pays £1100 a year on an S2000 and he is 31.

They are scared because most people in the UK obsess over the pennies and don't give a stuff about the pounds.

True, but would you buy one?

Everyone want's one, but when it comes down to it very few want the aggro.

The amount of people who spend £5k more on a car to save £10 a month in fuel (or want to be able to say "it only costs £35 a year to tax!" in the case of Diesels) is scary.

Buy an RX8

No, but because I just dont like them, not because they are bad cars.

Age 24 on a car like that and you think £800 is bad?

My 530i was about that at 24!

Ok, not bad, but it's more than i expected, but as with all things i imagine there are a number of factors, hell that could be an amazing quote for all i know.

You'll struggle to get an E46 M3 for this budget or a 350z. Unless you mean an E36 M3, which could be a money pit....like an Rx8.

They're not money pits, the running costs are high and if you go in with your eyes open it is to be expected.
