*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

OK just done this with Lightning, Snow and Sazh in my party and got 90K CP in 30 minutes (I timed it) :) This is the best Farming strategy I have seen so far!!

It is 7 battles in sequence, most of which you can get a Pre-emptive strike on (I Reckon about 8 minutes without pre-emptive strikes and maybe 5-6 with)

3x Hoplite, 2310CP
2x Hoplite,1540CP
4x Hoplite, 3080CP
2x Cryohedron, 2380CP
3x Cryohedron + 2x Hoplite, 5110CP
3x Cryohedron, 3570CP
5x Hoplite, 3850CP

Total 21840CP

Owe you one, gonna do this for a few hours and build up my characters. I am assuming I cannot come back to this section after the game is completed?

What part is this? sounds amazing for farming, im on Chapter 7 i think.

Is there any good farming around 7? i heard just after you meet Hopes dad you can just go around this place in a circle and keep fighting respawned people to get good points

Chapter 11, See posts 1448 and 1452 for exact directions. The place at the end of chapter 7 is good for getting those enemies to drop "chips" which are worth 250 or 2000 gil each (2 types). In terms of farming for CP it is not really worth while. (Around that level you are only getting 200 or so CP per battle). Gil is just useful for buying upgrades to improve weapons. The section I did yesterday also has the enemies drop loads of components that, after 1 hour of farming, let me upgrade 3 weapons to maximum!!!

Also Up to approx Chapter 9-10 all Crystal upgrades are only a couple hundred CP per upgrade. If you play the game normally you should easily have enough to upgrade everything available to you at the time. The expensive upgrades are level 10 onwards. It doesn't seem cost efficient to farm/grind lots of 200 CP battles early on when the 4000 CP plus upgrades are not even unlocked till Chapter 10.

An odd nitpicking here, but I gotta say, I'm not really liking Cid Raines' English voice as it doesn't sound intimidating or deeper enough. The Japanese version and also Anime fans would recognised if they played that one, he is voiced by the same guy that does Tomoya from Clannad or Graham from Gundam 00.

great, what is the part at the end of chapter 7, just so ill know when i get to that part. Is it just a case of killing the same enemys over and over and getting loads of chips?

You will be in Hope's House (There is a save point there) As you beat a set of soldiers, another one appears a few metres away, repeatedly. They drop the 2 types of chips quite often. Just don't exit the area as the level will end.

any tips of defeating them quickly? i cant remember who you control at that stage? i hope its not Snow and that Kid, takes so long to kill anyone when they are together.

To be honest, it was ages ago so I can't recall exactly which soldiers they were, or which chars you control at that point as you switch around a lot in that chapter.

just curious to know how far everyone was at 10 hours?

I'm 13 houra 22mins in and at the end of chapter 6. An hour or so of that was wasted time as I was battling every soilder on the very first level. Little did I know that you wouldnt gain anything from them fights lol

Found a nice farming area in the tower in chapter 11 (got stuck on the boss at the top so went farming) Once you unlock tier 6 there is a room with a flight of stairs going down and a save point mid-way(you will need to go down them at least once for story). At the top is a vampire worth 2.6kCP (easily killed with tri-disaster then relentless assault combo) then at the bottom of the stairs is the real bonus 5 pulsework gladiators worth 8k CP.

Might at first seem kind of poor for farming but if you juggle tri-disaster and either aggression (com-com-rav) or relentless assault you can kill each soldier in one turn, average battle time was 30secs for me. Then go back up and kill the vampire then go back down for more gladiators. so 10k per trip and aroud 1min 30 total time inc stairs thats 300k CP in 30 mins. I farmed 1mil cp in just over 1hr and got all my chars 3 main abilities to lev 4 then battered the boss at the top lol

ive heard a lot of negativity on this game on different ff forums, but a few hours in and i dont understand why. fantastic so far, ok a little too much character grunting and moaning in cut scenes but the battle system is maybe the best ive played in any final fantasy yet.

I have just started the crystal level and so far it was nothing more than spamming the auto-attack button, I can understand that impatient people would have given up already.

Finally now I can start using Paradigm, hopefully it will become clear in the next few hours as so far its a little confusing.

Yeah, there's a lot of hate going about. I say either they aren't truly a Final Fantasy fan to begin with, or simply naive. I've spent more time on XIII than any other game since XII. But then I love Final Fantasy. True it's a departure from the norm, as was XII. But it's still Final Fantasy.
Wether or not you think it's a genesis or not, the underlying factor of all Final Fantasy titles is it's story, and XIII is no exception. I will say that the battle system is a little too easy, even with auto-battle turned off. If they got rid of the repeat cycle on abilities, it wouldn't seem so shallow and uninvolving at times. The Paradigm system tips the scales, it's a very neat way of making more strategic the old gambit system of XII, which wasn't bad. Still, i'm thoroughly enjoying it... And no doubt will continue to, up until I get that Platinum and Killed one of those Walking Monstrosities ;).

RP yes you can return there... Go have a looksee at the boss at the end of the left fork... and you'll understand why you're able to return. There's also a few secret areas there you wont be able to access just yet ;).

i wasn't sure about the battle system to start with but i am liking it now that i am used to it and its opened up :)

i did not get along with xII and only played it once but i am liking ffxiii a lot more and can see myself getting all the hidden stuff etc :)

Lightning, Fang and Hope. I didn't get one single chip in this area :( I must have done about 20 battles as well, before I got bored and ended the level.

Currently working my way through Chapter 4, played for about 5 hours so far. A little annoyed in regards to the constant party splitting, battles seem more fun with 3 people. Been given the chance to upgrade weapons too, Lightnings Gladius and Sazh's guns were the only things I worked on.

Need to take a day off work and just play it for 12 hours straight.

Holy crap, Just checked out my hours. I'm on 19hours and only just started chapter 7 :D lmao, Oh dear. I have been reading all the data entries, etc. but thats along time to be so early in the game still.

I've spent most my upgrades on Hopes weapon, He's got a level 11 Hawkeye currently and he's an absolute Gem when it comes to battles. Just need to buff my Commandos now, as their weapons are still early stages. Lightening does less damage that snow, Despite her weapon being a higher level than his. Go figure.

Loving it so far though

Well I've leveled the Helter Skelter up to it's star rank (level 61). Leveling weapons certainly gets much easier after you unlock Particle Accelerators and Ultracompact Reactors. I just need a Trapezohedron to upgrade it again (2,000,000 gil).

I could be farming for a while.
