Codemasters F1 2010 X360/PS3 (contains important question about 2011 game!!!)

I think it looks very promising from that trailer. If they are talking about things like tyre temperatures and marbling etc. then it should be a lot more realistic than Grid/Dirt.

I think some people are assuming it will be just like those games but with F1 skins, somehow I doubt it.
problem is, that's the first thing that comes to mind when I read CM making an F1 game. I'm hoping it's not, and they're working damn hard on making the cars feel good (hopefully both an arcady style setting + a more realistic/sim style setting; need some accessibility). youtube is loading this video at like 5kb, so haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

Ok from the video. It seems they know they need a much different handling mechanic, so hopefully they hit that.

Wet tracks seem to have puddles, and uneven wetness, racing line getting drying out quicker and things. Seems VERY interesting.

Seems they are taking a lot of suggestions from the F1 community

 in car all the way!!!

I'm old I was brought up on chase view in the arcades and I will never get away from seeing the whole car :D

Why spend months making a game with decals and livery and nice paint jobs and sit in car ;)

The only trouble is they rarely make good handling chase view anymore because it's not popular with the pups ;)

Another vote for chase view... I just find it impossible to judge what the back of the car is doing in cockpit view. (Before you say anything, in real life you can obviously *feel* what the back end is doing :p)

That's what force feedback steering wheels are for, allows you to feel when the car starts to slide
I've always gone cockpit view for F1 games, I find with chase view I can't see the corner coming up well enough to judge the apex...

Another chase view here. I occasionally might give bumper or cockpit view a go but you just don't get the real idea of what the car is doing in those views.

I used to play a mate in PGR2 who continuously blamed me for hitting him during close racing. It wasn't until replays in PGR3/4 that I could prove it was him who usually turned into me... because he couldn't see me! First he'd know is a bump and cue ranting at me for barging him off the road! He raced bumper, I raced chase.

As dannyjo says, us older players were bought up on chase view - so it's always going to be superior ;)

The trailer from outside the car looks like typical CM, the car looks like it's got a pole attached to the centre of the car that's turning it, so I won't be holding out much hope for it.

A proper wheel helps a lots with working out how the car is behaving, obviously this involves the devs getting the force feedback right and everything. Just much more fun feeling the back go out than seeing it :)

The old PS1 F1 games had 2 chase cameras; near and far.

Back then I liked the far chase cam, but now I prefer racing cockpit for the sense of speed and it looks much better when people are watching :p

Although I would like it to include a chase cam - I would probably use cockpit cam because the whole point of a F1 game, in my opinion, is the realism - and the ability to play from the cockpit is awesome :D I hope that you are able to change every little detail of your car between races such as suspension etc. and that it makes a difference to your actual racing :D

Do you guys play F1:CE online? I randomly give the demo a whirl every few weeks, as I really wanted the full version, but I've never been able to find it at a reasonable price!
