***Official OCUK Deadlift Challenge***

Heres the rules used from UKM if you're interested:

we all did this wed night the rules are
200kg on the bar
all reps are to touch the floor but not stop on the floor
if you rest you must rest at the top
only belt allowed
and all reps must be locked out/no half reps

oh and can we use chalk or not?
 
Can I suggest a change? Make it time based. 1min to rep az many times as possible.

Yeah i would say 1 min, as many raps as poss, rest wherever (like the . If you need to make even a tiny adjustment (shifting your leg/hand), doing it standing with 2xBW in your hands is asking for trouble (not that i can even do 2xBW atm :()

That's easy stuff, problem is getting someone to record it.


I'm too camera shy to have someone record my skinny ass in the college gym with the only attractive women in the college around :p

You could just ensure you're set up correctly before begining to lift? Don't forget you have 2 seconds at the bottom of each rep to adjust if need be.
 
Benny I think we should scrap the 1s-2s pause and just have it done in a timed scenario as has been mentioned 1min. Means you can pause as long as you want.

Shall we just allow belts/straps/hooks/chalk. Ideally we want as many people to take part as possible.

If any other members fancy a 1 minute DL challenge but can't manage 1.5/2 x BW pick a weight and give it your best and post it up anyway.

It'll get more difficult to manage.

Maybe you can create 2 leagues?

League 1: Raw - no straps or belt

League 2: Assisted - straps ans belt allowed

Within each league there will be 3 competitions, 1xBW, 1.5xBW and 2.0xBW
 
Think i might give this a go in a few weeks time, but i wont have a video of it so you will have to take my word for it:p

I would try the 2xbw with straps, weight would be the same as Freefaller (200k).

If all goes well in the next 8weeks, hopefully I will be able to beat my 1rm also, so hopefully will be able to get a few reps out with 200.
Im aiming high, i must beat Freefaller:D:p

I'd been thinking about trying for the 1.5xBW but was going to see if I could do it first as I've only done about 1.3xBW up to now for a 1RM. I know I can do 1xBW though for reps so I guess I'd better put my name down, the form may well be less than ideal though. BW for me is about 80kg at the moment - do we get a weighting based on how far we've got to move the weight? I'm taller than most of you so it's going further. :p

Benny - use google spreadsheets or something to create the league table.

League 1 (No Belts or straps)

Name ---- 1x BW --- 1.5x BW --- 2.0x BW

Then:


League 2 (Lifting aids allowed)

Name ---- 1x BW --- 1.5x BW --- 2.x BW

I think vids are definitely required personally.
 
Ahh kool stuff. I'll crack on with that now we've finally settled on rules :p

As this is a computer based forum not a pl / bb based forum I think we are fine relaxing the rules, it will allow more people to enter.

I know a few people who have a wide stance when pulling, no doubt after a few heavy reps their feet will have moved, resting when you want is more like a strongman comp, which is what we are trying to emulate I think, rather than a powerlifting style comp.

In terms of grip implements, the only thing I'd rather not see is hooks, but then we don't have any members who use them so that's not a problem :)
