*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

Just wondered where you'd heard that its nothing to do with it, as I've not really seen many versus details, not for lack of trying! They just dont exist.

I'm not saying it could be a storyline sequel or anything, Just set in the same world(a prequel in a sense). I was thinking along the lines of FF7, During play the world is futuristic and mechanical. At the end of the game when you finish it, You see Red looking over a grass overgrown Midgar. I'm thinking its a possibility for FF13vs. Technological advanced past(vs) with Pulse in FF13 being the results of an aged world

Same, to me it looks like Versus is going to be a prequel, set well before (the developed world of) Pulse is destroyed and the Fal'Cie build Cocoon.

The story itself may be nothing to do with that of FFXIII's, but the setting seems to be. The buildings and Tenjin's tower are very reminiscent of the buildings you seen in the Versus trailer.

So far it's only been mentioned that the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection of games only share a common myth and crystals playing important roles. Whether or not that the games will truely be set in the exact same world, well we don't know yet.

I won't be surprised that eventually they will be in different time periods, especially as the crystals play a similar theme, and of course what is called Pulse surely has a lot of history just waiting to be explored and told. It worked well for the Ivalice Alliance games that included the Final Fantasy Tactics games and Final Fantasy XII and then of course Compilation of Final Fantasy VII as well. Granted that the game's stories and periods in these two are much closer together/in the same timeline.

is there any way of getting a collectors item again from a misson, as i balls upped, i upgraded mine to see what would happen and it turned into the connoisseur.

Collector Catalog = Moogleworks shop. Expensive 100,000 Gill though.

You can pick up another one later in the game as well.

EDIT - Redo Mark Mission 8. Not sure if it works though as it's the primary reward and I think they are only once.

I am still at chapter 9 but I am almost dreading chapter 11 and onwards, is it really confusing in chapter 11 or does it sound worse than it really is?

Is leveling/Grinding needed to finish the main portion of the game? (I want to finish the main game first and then grind for CP/Gil)

im on chapter 11 and its beautiful :P very open to run around do missions i like it

The Archlyte Steppe in Chapter 11 may seem huge at first, but once you spend time there, you'll eventually get very used to it. The main thing to worry about if your characters aren't strong enough is to just stay away from the huge monsters which is really easy to do. The parts that branch of into linear sections might be confusing at first and require a lot of treking around, but if you manage to activate some orange Cie'th Stones and sucessfully complete their mission, then you can have access to some teleport waypoints. It's also the linear sections that progress the main story, so you'll have the freedom to do whatever until then.

Chapter 11 is huge, but has a clear path to follow if you want to continue the storyline, the rest is purely optional and can easily be filtered out in favour of continuing the story. At the end of the game it's possible to return there if you wish to explore then. Just remember, there's MANY enemies in chapter 11 that aren't meant to be fought yet, especially in the fields, but they can be easily avoided.

Grinding isn't necessary imo, i did for about 15 mins in chapter 11 and feel i was overpowered by the end of the game. I 5-starred the final boss on my first go.

I think it would be hard and time consuming grinding in chapter 11, until you complete the game. Generally the Stages to the Crystarium setup are almost done in a way that you max out 1-2 or your characters 3 roles, just before the next stage is unlocked. There is enough mandatory fights for you to have maxed out at least 1 role for each character by the final battle. If you construct your team well that is more than enough to complete the game.

In chapter 11 you will try to fight 1-2 characters, get your arse handed to you on a plate, and quickly run to the area that leads out of it.

Ch11 I had a quick run around the fields, did 3-4 Cie'th stones just to see what they were about, spent about an hour CP farming in the place mentioned loads of times in this thread, then just carried on with the storyline.

Ch11 is actually very long, and you will have a lot of fights along the way so you will find that you will naturally max out your current Crystarium levels anyway, just by progressing the storyline.

I plan to go back to the Pulse plains when i'm done with the storyline instead.

The final boss is a proper annoying git m8 i tried to just tie up the story and maxrd my crystarium level 9 but couldnt take the final boss had to go farming got a few ultimate weapons and all level 2 weapons now so gonna have another crack

Again i found him easy, just stagger him, use army of one until he's at 999% and then use aggression to lay the smackdown. All of my weapons were at their first tier and none of my characters were maxed out.

I somehow doubt you "breezed" through it like that, we are talking about the boss with nearly 7 million health, has 3 faces and can Death people, not the "last last boss" i.e the one that doesn't really do anything. I had 3 characters with maxed tier 2 weapons, 3 maxed crystariums and even with the break gauge at 999% I couldn't take off more than 40% of his health using com/com/rav before it ran out.

anyone know how to unlock more missions? i cant unlock 12,13,14 i havent finished the game but ivce read that people have the growth egg anc chocobos before the end game!?

Mission 14 is the key. This gives you Chocobo access that opens up 2-3 new areas and other missions much higher up the numeric scale (Growth Egg mission was 55).

I think 1-14 were all pre-requisuites of the previous missions, although I did these post game so no way to be certain.

The one that looks like a massive dagger with faces on the hilt? I was talking about the final boss true, i didn't kill the 3 faces guy so quickly, however iirc i did 5-star all of the sections on my first go, i certainly completed it on my first try without any real issues.

Mark Missions 1-18 you can easily do on Chapter 11 early. The rest of them afterwards are done in the more linear areas where the main storyline will progress, and of course the harder ones back in the Archylte Steppe that are better done endgame.

An easy way to locate the next Mark Mission is to open up the map and look for a glowing Cie'th Stone icon, blue or orange. These will be new ones, and you can also bring up a numbered list of which ones you done or activated.

Can someone remind me how to travel to Sullya Springs on Chapter 11? One of the missions I want to do is there, but I have no teleport to that location and cannot recall whereabouts it is. It is really annoying the maps don't show you what area each exit leads to :(

Edit: Found it the Atomos machine takes you there.
