** Official ATI 5770 Thread **

Bit of a bump but

Currently got a normal xfx 5770 and lookin at some benchmarks for BF:BC2 xfired and it really releases the dog inside of it when playin maxed out settings, close to the 5870. Would it harm if i got the xfx 5770 "AVP Edition" and xfired them? or would non of them make a difference? might aswell spend an extra £10 for the full game voucher.

I do not think it would matter. If the clock speeds are different between the two cards then they would just run at the lowest card speed.

So I finally installed my Vaporx 5770 and all I can say is wow! I can't believe how much of an improvement it is over my old 9800gt and it is soooo much quieter as well.

I'm really tempted to pick a second up and crossfire them when I get my new motherboard and RAM :D

Just installed my new Sapphire 5770 1GB. Have only done 1 quick performance test using Dawn of War 2 on 1920x1200 ultra settings. My old 8800 GTS 512mb had average fps 20, max 52, min 4 on those settings. The 5770 gets av 43, max 84 and min 10.

Hi got my self a Club 3D 5770 1gb a couple of weeks back as a short term replacment while im waiting for BFG to replace my GTX280 and dam i am impressed i <3 this card

What is the best driver? just the latest official Cats?

On the last page i can see this driver is used

logmein mirror driver 7.1.542.0 136mb

Does the 5770 have a problem when logmein is installed?

Using 10.2 drivers i get 10,057 in vantage. I got 8000 with my 8800GT, crysis benchmark has only gone up by 15fps in DX9. Am i missing something?

edit - Just tried 3dmark 06 and heres before and after. Is someone not setup correctly?

8800GT
15082, 6421, 6104, 4995

5770
16338, 6424, 7455, 4993

bust out the COP benchmark and a few others, i don't really use 3dmark so can't help you there. 15fps is a fair chunk in crysis to be fair.

Better than a GTX280? o_0

It's not so much total wattage as is it amps on the 12v rail.

My HX520 runs them with no problems, and has 40A across triple 12v rails.

Hi Krooton, this is what i'm worried about as i'm not sure how well my PSU will cope with this. It's apparently got 43A combined acrosss triple 12v rails (this is not me just adding them up but what it's rated at). However it's not sli certified or anything and a jonny guru review implies that my pci-e connectors all run from the same 25A rail so i'm a little worried i won't be able to pull it off. I don't want to go and buy one only to find that now i need a new PSU too. However if your hx520 can run it i have a little more confidence in mine however i am running a power hungry clocked q6600 and a few LED fans and hdds so i'm still unsure.

What is COP?

15fps in Crysis is a HUGE improvement.

I tried DX10, very high and that does run loads better than before. I can run the benchmark in DX10 but do you need to select it somewhere when you run the game? (running 32bit exe)

Shattered horizon now runs in full graphics at around 30fps. Before in low it was around 10fps!

Metro 2033 now works in very high, DX10 at around 30-40fps when before it was unplayable (2-10fps) DX11, very high still kills it to about 15fps though.

Ive clocked it to 950/1300 for a bit of a boost

All games played in 1680 x 1050. I got the Powercolor version, it has a fan that hardly makes any noise, good stuff. I see on some reviews it has a full black cover over it, have I got the correct version?

COP = call of pripyat

and what are you moaning about? sounds like you haven't got a problem at all. Is somebody seeking attention :p

I'd be very surprised if it struggled. You can get a power meter for £12 and check the overall power usage of your machine.

My PSU only has 18A per 12v rail, so your's with 25A should be more than enough.

No, well maybe :p

Just stating that it doesnt look to be a big increase in SM2 or SM3 really but DX10 and newer games do work a lot better

Ill google pripyat when i get home, never heard of it

You haven't played stalker call of pripyat!!! you should be shot!

i haven't played it either :(:p but the benchmark is downloadable and is used quite a lot. To be honest your card looks fine, newer games is where it will shine.

Thanks for the reply Krooton, i shall see what the money situation looks like after i buy a new monitor in about a month, if money is good i shall get another and perhaps a new PSU too as those seasonics with the fan that turns off on idle are looking very tempting. Plus once fermi is in full swing the amount of 5770's on MM should increase as i imagine a lot of people would have been using these as stop gaps.
