That's why I hate the idea of taxing fatty/unhealthy foods as it just penalises those that have that sort of thing as part of a healthy lifestyle.
It does, but it still strikes me as fairer that those who drink more should bear that burden than everyone else. If you abolished alochol duties and just paid VAT instead, VAT would have to rise by around 1.75% (to 19.25%) to cover the lost revenue. Do you think that would be fairer?
