Corsa VXR *facepalm*

Hands up please class;

How many people slating the VXR's handling has driven one?

I don't know how anyone could slate the VXR's handling. It is very much a point and shoot machine that makes you smile ear to ear.

Sure the interior is shoddy, the badge is rubbish and it's a bit chavvy, but it is a good car.

But why does one person get slated and the other not ? ah yes thats right because its got a vauxhall badge

Because a hot Clio of any type (172, 182, 197, 200 et al) in handling terms is second only to the Integra DC-5 and Lotus Elise in being the best driving car in the world, where as any other hot hatchback that, like the Clio, was developed from a cheap town runabout, is only fit for going shopping in?

Such is the impression you'd get from this forum at times :)

Edit: aaah I get your point now. The Corsa is a bit crud mind.
I was being ironic :)

As for the Corsa VXR, its not what I'd buy with the cash and its not the best of its breed, but this forum does tend to have rather extreme views about whats good and whats not...somebody buys a Clio and everyone thinks its amazing, where as someone buys another decent hot hatch thats not quite as good, yet still a decent car for its type, and people are falling over themselves to slate it.

In the scheme of things a Corsa VXR is still a pretty decent car judging by the reviews it got at the time of release, yeah its not the best thing on four wheels, but its not as laughable a choice as this thread would suggest IMHO.

I think this thread was trying to outline that a Corsa for £14.5k is, quite rightly, laughable.

But then again, you wouldn't find me buying any 17-year-old's-wet-dream-with-stick-on-tat supermini ;)

27 years old and wants a Corsa?

I don't care if its rocket powered and gives you fellatio everytime you drive it. 27 years old and wanting a Corsa is pathetic. Does he have no ambition, no aspirations, no desire to further himself?

Crikey, what the hell is wrong with you? Jeez pretty much every post I see of yours is fired with anger and bitterness, you are 27 not 67! Also who are you to look down on people? What are your aspirations or ambitions? Were they to drive an old high millage diesel BMW at 27?

The guy may have a Corsa and could have chosen better cars but end of the day, id much rather be happy and drive a Corsa than be a grumpy **** and drive a BMW.

Based on the used Corsa VXR prices on autotrader, 14.5k for a brand new one is very good indeed. (around 4k less than the list price with a couple options)

Give that the VXR is also a very good hot hatch (based on personal experience and the motoring press) I am struggling to see the point of this thread.

my mate has a 58 corsa arctic, its pretty cool, makes an AWESOME noise and is good fun, i wouldnt have one at 28 though, i want to be in 335i territory by then if all goes well. btw was 20 like 3 months ago

Are we going to have some sort of internet vendetta against each other, sniping in various unrelated threads, ever since I criticised you for insulting another poster?

That would be pretty childish if its the case.

Not at all. Have a cuddle ;)

I also fail to see the problem with a 27 year old driving a Corsa VXR (well maybe I wouldn't, after all my CTR is no better). There's a 50-odd year old bloke around the corner from me with one, it's a good car.

People suggesting that you fail at life because you drive something that didn't have a £35K price tag when new by 30, seriously need to look at priorities. A nice car is incidental to my life, or would be if I could afford it. Not a goal, and not a status symbol. Just something I enjoy. If it happened to cost a lot when new, so what?
