Instead of slating Nvidia...

microsoft funds gaming developers, so does nintendo and sony way more than any pc hardware company. pc gaming is falling behind because of that. they used to say that the pc gaming hardware industry is laughing behind the software's industry back. things are changing though.

Nope nope nope.
very bad example.

Nintendo own the platform.
MS owns some games companies.

NV does not own the PC platform or own any games companies nether are they games publishers.

2x 5850 costs the same, but is faster

Yes but it uses crossfire and not everyone wants to use crossfire or sli, yes new games support both sli and crossfire but scaling will vary from game to game and users with CF and SLI will have to put up with driver issues single gpu users simply won't, oh and theres that highly subjective thing called microstuttering you might have heard of.

But otherwise I agree, 2x5850 is a better option if you don't mind these issues

If anything MS should fund it, as they OWN the platform.

Those issues are becoming less and less of an issue with well made new games and latest drivers.

you have just made a terrible point.

How is pointing out an issue that a game had with certain cards and certain driver versions not related to talking about games having issues with certain configurations of hardware?

The point is, there are always going to be some issues and issues are not only with multi gpu setups

Because we all know that already. the other guy was just making the point that you can get issues ON TOP of those with x/fire and sli.

Except that with something like Dirt2 having CF would not give you the menu slowdown due to the cards being more powerful and thus chugging away through the issue

But what the hey

@ RavenXXX2, please don't try insulting our inteligence by insinuating that Anandtech is some sort of dodgy site. Everyone is fully aware it's a legit and well respected site.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=248322

seems some ad server has got maleware in it delivering it to the site, asking for a plug-in install containing trojans.
it's not the first time AT has had issues since they moved into VB,
yet they're aware of it and working to solve it,
good luck over there guys.

In case it hasnt already been posted.

I enjoy slating of Nvidia because they deserve it for a lot of things - Fermi delays and dissapoinment, Jensens awful attitude towards Intel and AMD/ATi while being too full of himself and Nvidia, and also continuous renaming of products to sell them to unaware OEM consumers who think a Geforce 220 with 2 Gb of ram is faster than a 9800 GT with 512 Mb of ram.

Stopped reading after that. Troll.

OMG, really I am? YAY!!!!

Well done to you for comprehension failure.

Nvidia dont deserve my respect.

Ignored by an Nvidia fanboy who probably worships the ground that Jensen walks on, like that is meant to bother me in any way.
