***Official Left 4 Dead 2 Thread***

Dang-it, this was the thread I meant to post in :D

Where you all playing? OcUK servers look perma-empty?

Take a look at the OcUK Steam Names list in my sig and add a rake of people from there :). Sadly at the moment there's a bit of a lull in L4D playing as people are overly enamoured with BC2 at the moment but I'm always up for a game and we can always get a full lobby going.

Add me and I'll make sure to spam you whenever I'm next in a game or better yet start your own lobby and spam others to join you :)

Well I had this since launch but only got round to playing 2 levels of it, finally have time to invest into this, but there appears to be barely any campaign games left?

Just set up a campaign game of your own and spam people to join it. There's certainly a few around here who enjoy playing expert realism campaigns (me!).

Which is better? 1 or 2?

Hard choice, loved the change up of weapons and new zombies etc in 2, but I think L4D1 is the better game.

L4D2 I constantly struggle to get a decent ping when playing, with L4D1 never have an issue and constantly sub 30ms. Not played either in a while though.

There's plenty of gaming still to be had in L4D1 if you know where to look. With me now it tends to be me and a couple of people who regularly play it and team up for some games. I have a different set of players with whom I play L4D2 game though as well so I'm sorted either way! :D

L4D1 tends to be played more by the better class of players these days, especially when doing a team vs. All the noobs :) brought L4D2, leaving all the 'elite' and 'purist' players in the first one.

So don't be surprised if you play either and get a sound beating from the players there, unless you play with us lot when vs games pick up again....oh wait, you'll still get a royal thrashing there as well :p

Which is better? 1 or 2?

L4D2 if you have neither will more likely take your fancy as there are more weapons to choose from and more infected to fight against, but L4D1 for me feels more atmospheric and little things seem to be done better. The cleaner UI in the first game is a plus aswell.

L4D2 is left more to chance/luck of the draw in terms of game play but is also more fun in terms of variety and added content.

L4D1 I haven't touched in aaages, but I agree with Delboy. It will contain the "l33t/purists" who didn't like L4D2. Whilst not having as much diversity it is older and therefore almost all tricks in the book have been covered/learned. It can be a lot more deadly without melee weapons and having a full incapacitating attack (3 hunter + 1 smoker).

All in all I like them both but I have played them so much it has worn on me a bit. I'll still come back for the odd bash from time to time though.

I'm pretty much the same, but the insanity versus mod has given the games a whole new lease of life to me, loving it again :D

I get bored very very quickly in both on servers with no mods, jumping mod for infected (prior to spawning), character switching mod and insanity mod are my faves by far, without thoes (only needs 1 to be more fun) the games gone stale

Tbh it's more down to what you burn and what yopu save than luck.

The only people who bitch about luck are the ones who just go in with what ever they have.

When ever we spit charge someone in sewer it's always "you got lucky we had no charger there!"

No we've been saving that charger and killing everything else to get the spitter since you jumped onto the caravan.

Unfortunately in our case, its your own team doing the thrashing

I still despise the new level of noob balance they did in L4D2.
Tiring out after a few melee pushes makes sense. Being able to swing a Crowbar with enough power to kill 3 zombies without tiring is stupid.
Suddenly appearing with a Pistol when you sacrificed it for an overpowered melee weapon is also stupid.
The RIDICULOUS number of kits in vanilla.
Defibs for there very existence in Versus.
Grenade Launchers being the ultimate in stupid for Versus given the stumble of specials, excessive amount of ammo and complete lack of FF.
Etc...
