Rugby League Season Starts Soon

Might have to have a trip out to Bradford too. Be interesting how we turn up next week against Wire.

Did you goto the derby?

I am increasingly annoyed with Justin Morgan on some of his team selections lately. When will he realise that Scott Murrell is NOT a hooker and would be much better played at Loose Forward like last season when he was most effective. Putting him in at Hooker when we have Fisher AND Hodgson on the bench is crazy.

Hodgson played well for the 20 minutes he was allowed to play in the derby, Morgan says how he will play a role in the Quins game, but then doesn't name him in the squad! Ludicrous. Murell plays better at loose, he is just not fast enough as a hooker and is played completely out of position this season, Morgan is just stubborn. Hodgson has showed enough so far in the little that he has played that he is a cracking player, top notch passing.

Congrats to Kris Welham (FAO TonyM19:the ginger centre) getting 4 tries today, still think he is a decent centre, but needs to perhaps get down the gym and pile a bit of weight on to increase his defensive effectiveness.

I am one of the 'trust in Justin' mob, but the Scotty selection does perplex me. I'm glad the Jake at 6 experiment didn't last long, wondering when the Murrell at 9 will stop too - it's his passing that's just so much less incisive too.

Yes, was there Friday, very disappointing at the lack of cutting edge.

You on the Rovers forums? (http://www.hullkrfans.co.uk) Much more civilised than RLFans if you go on there.

Yeah I am, I only recently joined (only recently found its existence!), I am "physichullkr".

I do believe in JM, he is generally a good manager and he always seems to talk sense whenever interviewed, just his team selections have slipped this year.

Would have been nice to have a 'proper' derby game for Warrington, one of the main reasons i miss Widnes being in the top flight as we always used to be matched against them for derby weekend. We still seem to be riding the bubble though, hopefully it aint gonna burst anytime soon........ :D

Maybe next weekend against the mighty Robins eh? ;)

You mean Grimsby KR? Nah...... haha.

Had a laugh in Australia when i was over there, met up with an ex KR player, Artie Beetson, know of him at all? :D Also had one of your ex players as a coach for a while Paul Harkin, he is funny as ****. :p

He doesnt look like that now! haha. He's lost the big scouser hair-do, though he has filled out a bit more now. Did a spell coaching with Bratford for a while and then was at Wakey academy. Not sure what else he is up to, but he is usually found watching the games on the phone as he is responsible for most of the stats on the live matches. He basically sits there watching the match on the phone going "Hit up No8, Hit up No11, line break No6" etc etc for the opta match stats.

Its round 11 of the engage Super League.

Bradford play in the south of France. Where do yours play this week?

Got Warrington at home. Will be a close fought game. Can't really predict it, possible a Wolves win, based purely on their opening form but our lads have enough to beat anyone on their day so who knows.

Went to Salford today to watch Wigan. Wigan ground out a tough victory without ever looking like they were going to lose. I know from bitter experience (eg Crusaders away last season) that these were exactly the sort of games that Wigan would have lost over the past 3/4 years.

The KR/Warrington game sounds a cracker - anybody on here go?

Sadly no, it was a home game and as I live in Manchester, I don't really make as much effort to get to home games. Been to all away apart from Catalan and Quins, and of course I couldn't miss the derby!

Sounded like Warrington were tired going into the game to be honest, KR looked fresher and won quite comfortably in the end while Warry went to pieces.

Talking to some who went, Peter Fox and Joel Clinton had outstanding games.

Huddersfield next in Challenge Cup.....hopefully it won't be another nilling!

Actually, forgot to mention, Peter Fox is reported to have waved to Simon Grix before going over to score a try, provoking a reaction from Grix.

I can assure you that Peter Fox did NOT wave at Grix, he was merely showing him that 10-9=1....

Im so happy we opened up a 4 point gap, it was a tough easter period for us and we've a few injuries but our young lads have stepped up superbly. Also really happy to see a Farrell scoring a try for Wigan again :)

Yeah - my tip, wrap up warm - its bloody freezing! Generally you have to park quite far from the ground and walk in (thats what i used to do when i went to away games before moving down here).

The big car park right outside the ground costs a fortune and takes ages to get off. I'd recommend street parking.

Get the train. It's only a short walk donwhill from the station to the ground and that way you can have a nice few sherbets on the way too! :D
