Who here owns a Renaultsport?

A local Renault have confirmed the PAS pump needs replacing; they also quoted for a new belt. Only problem is they say it will cost over £650 to do (£300 of that is labour!). This is ridiculous in my opinion so I'm going to phone around and get some quotes.

Worst comes to the worst I will buy a PAS pump second hand and then try to find a mechanic to fit it for me.

I can't believe I didn't notice this when I bought it, I swear the noise wasn't there!!

Get over to Cliosport, some good traders on there that will be cheap and do the job properly :) Some members may even offer to help if you choose to have a go at it yourself.

As said plenty of traders on Cliosport which will do the job cheaper and probably better.

As I'm from Devon and thus have hardly ever left the county I've no idea where abouts East Sussex is so couldn't comment who is good to use round there :p

Someone has recommended some guys in Sevenoaks (about 20-25 mins from where I work) called Ren7oaks. I've emailed them to see what their price is. I'm also going to a local Mr Clutch tomorrow to see what they think.

Join up on CS and ask in the mechanical section, someone will pop along and tel you who is good in your area.

I can think of people in Brum, Dorset and Devon off the top of my head, but there are quite a few traders on there with good reputations.

I'm a member of Cliosport but replies to my queries seem few and far between.

I've sourced a local Renault specialist who can do the work for £400. Bit gutted I need to spend out on that already, but everything else looks in order so hopefully won't need anything else done any time soon.

Other than this problem, the car is friggin' amazing to drive. The handling is just unbelievable. It seems to have a little oversteer which surprised me, being a FWD car, it just 'kicks' enough to allow you to pretty much point the car where you want, almost like it is a go-kart or something. Bloody amazing and great fun to drive.

I had it cleaned the other day and it looked fantastic. I'll be honest thought, I went through a car wash which I now regret as I am sure it has caused a stone chip on the windscreen (I'm certain it wasn't there before). I need to learn about how to properly clean, wax and polish a car.

I can't wait to get this bloody whining problem sorted though, it's booked in next Tuesday so hopefully that will be the last of my issues. I'm so paranoid now though, I am finding myself worrying about every little noise I hear in case something is wrong! haha.

I've also just ordered an £11 Skoda Fabia splitter for it which I will fit next week. There's a big thread on CS about them, they look great and are a fraction of the cost of a proper Renault one (over £100!!).

I'll get some decent pics up soon. It's just a standard 182FF in Arctic blue with 182 anthracite alloys though. I love it.

 Swirls.... THE SWIRLS

Is everything else on the car standard or has it got aftermarket exhaust, lowered, remap etc?

All standard apart from some tinted windows. I might look at getting a different exhaust but I don't want something which sounds chavvy.

Completely agree.

What mileage does yours have? Basically I wouldnt bother changing the exhuast unless it needs replacing. I had some corrosion on my exhaust at about 50k miles and a new standard renault exhaust was £700 + £300 fitting! So i bought a SS Miltek with lifetime warranty for £400 fitted. Whilst its louder than the standard exhuast I wouldnt say it is in any way chavvy, it just adds a little extra presence to the car and compliments the F4R.

Plus it is lighter ;)

First things first though, your car is sick, get the whinning problem sorted :)

It's got 50k on it and the exhaust has a bit of corrosion, but only on the first layer, so probably has plenty of life in it. I probably will wait until it is screwed completely before replacing it.

The Milltek is actually the exact one I was looking at as it seems (from YouTube videos) to have the perfect balance of not sounding chavvy but still sounding quite beefy :)

My 182 has a Milltek on it, its fairly quiet until about 4k then it comes alive but it does not sound chavvy at all. I've driven down Lymington highstreet a few times which is full of snobby old toffs and no one has looked at me in disgust at the sound of my exhaust! It sounds a lot different in real life as opposed to Youtube videos, much nicer in real life :)

Yeah I get the impression that it will sound a lot different in real life. I think it's the one I'll go for though. Yozza seems like a popular choice on Cliosport.net, but they just seem overly noisy.

I have a quick question. As I've never had a car with power steering I don't know if this is normal behaviour, also because I know the PAS pump needs replacing I'm not sure if it could be caused by that.

So, my question is, does Power Assisted Steering sometimes steer the car for you? I don't know how else to explain this. But sometimes it feels like the car is trying to steer me off the road. For example, the power steering seems to be following the camber of the road if it happens to be big. I hope I have explained this properly. It's not that bad, but I've noticed it on a couple of occasions.

Also, when I put my foot down in 1st or 2nd the steering becomes very light. I guess this is just because all the weight is on the back of the car, but it has nearly caught me out once or twice.

I'm possibly exaggerating slightly and just worrying for the sake of worrying but I thought I'd ask.

If a road isnt flat or has a large camber then the car will always be slightly pulled in one direction. Try this - When you are driving in a straight line take your hands off the wheel; you will notice little bumps, cambers etc slightly alter the course of the car

The alternative is your tracking could be slightly out.
