*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Leg day today, I guess the most important exercise I should be focusing on is squats right? Well, thats obvious, but what other exercises should I be focusing on? Normally throw in some leg press, leg extensions and calf (calve?) raises. Unsure about what else to do.

Any help guys?

Half way through my workout but I had to drop everything and tell you guys, just squatted 86kgs X 2!

A full 8kgs heavier than anything I'd done before, no spotter or safety bars, I think it was fear alone that got me back up the second time :D

Anyway, not much of an accomplishment to some of you but for me it's great considering when I started I was doing about 25kgs, i didn't think I'd actually be able to do it!

Back to it then.

Edit: I guess that should have been 87 actually :p

Don't forget your hamstrings :)

Stiff Legged Deadlifts or Regular/any other variant of the Deadlift. Leg curls if you must *shudder*.

OT: Tried some behind the back wrist curls today, really like these:)

OT again: Something in my diet at home REALLY isn't agreeing with me. I had mum screaming at me to open every window upstairs in the house! :(:p

It's either the fact I don't really eat potatoes and am whilst at home, eating considerably less vegetables, caged eggs instead of free range or my pre-wo NO mix. I suspect its the latter.

any ideas how to stop head pain in the gym? I got some serious pains in the back of my head yesterday doing squats and the same today benching, it seemed to calm down a bit later on in the session though (I was taking it easy though), as far as Im aware its not my breathing. I guess it could be my 1 hour of sleep yesterday/the serious hangover from the night before.
I'll be doing cardio saturday/sunday and back in for weights on monday and hope it improves.

Without wanting to give out medical advice, as we're not allowed, it sounds like it could be 'tension headaches'.

Lots of people suffer from these.

I've heard of people using Arginine to help get rid of headaches/migraines as it increases vaso-dilation and headaches are caused my constriction of blood vessels.

Yep, sounds like tension headaches to me. Had them myself years ago, really really not fun. I'd imagine doing regular exercise would help remove some stress though. Chances are it might not be though (if it felt like someone was squeesing the back of your neck/head with a vice then it probably is), but in future remember to rest and get your liquids up as dehydration also leads to headaches.

Bah bunch of girls! :D :D :D

Today's leg session will render me useless tomorrow...

50 reps @ 100kg Front Squats
50 reps @ 180kg dead lifts
3x6 reps @ 350kg Leg press
1x6 reps @ 400kg " "
1x6 reps @ 450kg " "
3x10 reps @ 100kg calf raises

Ouchy!

^^ That dwarfs my leg session!

I managed
5x5 @ 60kg back squats
3x5 @ 160kg leg press
1x5 @ 200kg leg press
1x5 @ 210kg leg press
5x5 @ 60kg calf raises

and then I did 5x5 on leg extensions not quite sure of the weight as its just numbers 1-20.

Although FF's workout dwarfs mine, I will not be able to walk tomorrow, fact!

Also If i'm doing deads for my back workout, should I do them aswell for my legs?

I managed 15 reps of 90kg in a minute today, gave the 1xBW challenge another pop, too bad it was at the end of my workout, reckon I've got 25 in me!

Don't worry about what I do - it's about challenging yourself :) If that's a hard tough workout for you that's all that counts. Ignore other people's achievements or abilities. Aspire to them if you want to, but don't belittle your own efforts. :)

I do DLs either on back or leg - I quite like doing them in both - it's just how my routines planned out. It's a leg exercise as well you know. :)
