I believe they have the same frame.

I have the older model Enduro (2007-2009) and would love to try the new one. You should check out mtbr.com and the Specialized forum in there, there's obviously tonnes of threads on the 2010 Enduro and 'which is best!??!' threads.

From my reading of the stuff over there the new model apparently has a much stiffer rear-end and the new suspension design copes much better than the previous with small bumps, it's also a lot beefier around the chainstays (they have one at my LBS and I was quite surprised how much they'd beefed it up), it's definitely more towards the aggressive all-mountain end of the spectrum than the slightly more XC oriented previous model. A lot of people seem to like it, a few don't like the look of the new frame, I'd personally say screw that if it rides good :)

Depends what state it was in when you last used it?

The chain may need degunking and relubing.
Important parts may need to be lubed/greased/oiled.

what is the best/easiest way to degunk your chain, i cleaned and relubed/oiled my bike a couple of days ago and found really hard to get all the crap off the chain.

Different people will say different things. ;)
Options:
Chain Degreaser from a bike shop
Chain Degreaser from Lidl (£1 a tin) ON OFFER ATM HERE.
White Spirit *
Cellulose Thinners

* - I use this. Always have and allways will. I get as much gunk off it as I can with an old rag prior to soaking the chain in just enough WS to cover it... Giving it a few good shakes now and again. Do this (Soak and Shake) for about 15minutes maybe less. Give the chain a good rinse in hot water and dry with rag. (I never leave it to air dry) Always comes up sparkling :D
Yet ~ chains work best when they're a bit dirty ;)

Funnily enough, a lot of chain manufacturers recommend soap and hot water. Gets the grime out/off without removing the lubrication from the rollers.

I'm more tempted with the 09 with it being more XC oriented.

Only really been looking at the enduro with me previously having a pitch

Can anyone recommend anymore bikes around 1.5k to 2k i should be looking at?

thanks for that! one question, actually 2. how do you get the chain off and what do you think of these chain cleaners that you clip on and run the chain through?
 
Use a chain tool if you need to get it off, if you're just cleaning then it's not necessary.

If it doesn't have a master link where you can take the chain off by hand then use a chain tool. Otherwise I find the Barbieri chain cleaning tool works well. Don't be tempted to use other cheap chain cleaning tools as more than likely they will fall apart.

A pot noodle (Curry) (Beef and Tomato doesn't go :D) pot and some White Spirit works fine for me at a fraction of the cost of overpriced 'degreaser' and a washing wheel thing...
 
Popped into my LBS today to look at the Kinesis Raceligh TK2, and the frame is simply gorgeous, I had a chat with the staff and they agreed the spec wasn't up there £1k bikes pre build.

Somehow I've ended up buying a custom build based around the TK2 and Shimano 105. The wheels and other details/upgrades are in the hands of the guys, but I've given them a budget of £1500 to include mudguards and shoes. I've had some free egg beaters, pump and cages. Should have a final spec and a build in the next couple of weeks, depending on how well work deal with the CycleScheme!
 
Quick question...

Hopefully picking up my first road bike in the next day or two. I was just wondering what types of pedals they come with. Description is:
Silver cage/black body, w/ black toe clips and strap

The bike in question is this Specialized Allez 16 2010 Road Bike. Are these ones which will require shoes with clips on are are they cheapy pedals with just a little bit of plastic which goes over the top of normal shoes?

If I need to buy some shoes with clips, what's a decent retailer to look at, and do they all have the same clip formation or does it depend on the pedal type? Thanks!

see how you get on first but id recommend getting some clipless pedals and shoes if youre semi serious, ill post up info tomorrow but for an idea on cost, new touring spd £20 and decent new shoes around £40

I'm only using the bike for commuting at the minute (10 miles each way), but I would like to start doing more mileage and going out for longer rides on the weekend.

What's the benfit of clips over standard pedals?
**Edit** - Actually I just had a quick read and the main benefit is in being able to power the upstroke as well as down. One thing that concerns me though is that don't you normally attach the clips towards the balls of you feet? I may find this difficult as I like to ride with the pedals under my arch and ride with a fairly flat foot position. When I ride more on my toes I tend to get pain in my right knee for some reason.

Any kind of spec would be great, thank you very much!

Recently whilst cycling my road bike, the pedal snapped off. The metal section has broken where the arm of the pedal meets the bike frame. How would I go about fixing this?
