Ati 5 series ... are all the crashing problems resolved ?

Pretty sure the card is foobar, flat out refuses to get anything 3d going, grey/brown crashes while sufing etc and sometimes green squares on screen after driver stopped responding message. also occasionally cause slow post when reset from hard crash. RMA time :(

I'm in the GSOD / freaky vertical line camp here (Sapphire 5870). Seems completely random too. Can go a few days without it happening, then boom, straight as i get into anything 3D (mainly EVE for me). Sometime will happen 5-10 mins after getting intop a game. Doesnt always end in a hard reboot, but i'd say 8 out of ten times it needs it. No problems after reboot though.

I have 10.3 drivers installed and have flashed the card BIOS to the latest version. Running W7 64 HP.

System has Foxconn Blackops mobo with latest BIOS, Q9550 at stock speed and voltages and Corsair 1600 DDR3 (2x2GB) memory. All running off 850 W psu

Bought the card second hand off the MM here, so dont know when it was originally bought (is on receipt, but not at home atm). Suspect it was an early one. Original buyer sourced it from another online vendor.

Have contemplated RMAing it, but not sure where i stand on that as with buying it second hand.

Is a cracking card when it is running, apart from the GSOD and random hairdryer moments on boot up at times too

Well, I am stumped now ... just tried the card in my system and it works fine !
So obviously something on this system is iffy, needs further investigation.

I had issues with both Radeon 4770 and 5750 on an Asus M3A78Pro mobo (AMD 780 chipset). After installing Athlon II X4 630 CPU none of them would work properly (blue screeen crashes all the time). I tried various drivers, clean install of OS, changing mobo BIOS, etc. Hopeless...

Finally, I just bought a new mobo (Gigabyte MA785G-UD3H), put my Sapphire 5750 in and everything works perfect!! It seems that certain configurations of AMD chipset + AMD cpu + AMD vga don't work properly...Weird.

It turned out to be the memory, memtested fine but obviously didnt like something in the system, does the graphics card address memory directly ?
If so maybe ATI need to have an approved memory list (joke) :p

Well there you go. My first experience of artifacts and driver recovered with the 5770 using the 10.4 preview drivers.

Hmm.

Edit - Card less than two days old.
