I've been spending some time cleaning the red 420 over the last few weeks and for 15 years old, it's come up pretty damn well.
The whole car was clayed, machine polished and waxed. To finish it off, I fitted a Laguna splitter. The car isn't mint but it's in very good condition for its age.
Well spotted. I bought a new splitter for the green 420 for that very reason and used the old splitter from that on this car.
There's a picture from a previous MM mini-meet showing my car parked to rG-Tom's old Mondeo with the splitter cable tied in place It may have been hanging down a little bit and rubbed on the road.
Tbh, you don't really see it from normal height so I'm not too fussed. Much prefer the bumper with the splitter so it can stay
The bodywork looks good actually, I can only imagine what a red 15 year old Vauxhall would look like, your paint looks fine really. Is there any rust at all ?
The paintwork wasn't too bad when I got the car but giving it a machine polish REALLY brought it to life. Needs doing again when I have some time as there are still some visible swirls, but nothing like before.
Really impressed and will be giving the other car a machine polish before it goes back on the road. That had pretty good paintwork anyway so I'm looking forward to a lovely swirl free finish
Yeah, there's rust on both rear lower arches. The car has had quite a bit money spent on it in the past and was treated to new rear upper arches... probably why the colour doesn't quite match.
Recently got hold of some Hydrate80 (I know Lopez rates this stuff) to treat the green car so might give the red car some attention at the same time. You guys may question the mentality of doing anything to the red car, but the cleaner it is, the more it'll be worth when I come to sell.
