*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Ah Benny that's not too bad, should heal well aslong as you keep it closed and not go and pry it open to have a look inside here and there.

But that'll really affect some lifting. :/

Yeah, I say 'luckily' being a japanese pull saw it's thinner & sharper than a traditional saw which means it gave a cleaner cut, but also cut much further than a regular saw would have. Unfortunate it jumped on the pull as on the push it would have just grazed. It does go quite far round the actual tip.

Legs tomorrow :)

Bit annoying as I've been training grip lots recently too and have had a few sessions with my grippers and wanted to see if it had improved! Going to have to lift as heavy as a thumb, index & middle finger + a strap will allow!

They're good mate, progressing with them and combined with heavy forearm curls have felt that i've had a much more secure grip so far.

Paid via paypal but dont have a PP account myself. No hastle with my order & came super quick :)

Off to train will let you know how I get on 1 finger down :p lol

Well that wasn't a brilliant nor bad session. It didn't gush but I did feel & sort of see a re-bleed.

Deads were managable upto 170Kg x 7 (straps obvs) which happens to be a PB for reps.
Pull ups I could only hack reps of 6 (with a strap) until the pressure on it was too much.
Bent Rows weren't amazing as I couldnt really go heavy enough.
FST7 for lat pull & bicep concentration curls was actually quite good and I managed to get a rather good lat & forearm pump from the semi open grip!
I think rear fly was the only 'comfortable' exercise I managed!

Think they're called spider curls? used a preach bench but backward so had our chest on the pad and then arms hanging vertically.

You might need to go and get your finger glued and steri stripped up

Yeah I'm thinking about taking a trip to the hospital tomorrow. Will see how it is in the morning. I put some antiseptic on it for a few hours and changed the dressing to just a cotton pad & surgical tape about half an hour ago.

I'm more worried about infection etc! Deffers going to be keeping a very close eye on it.

Thanks for the advice though :)

I would say its a good session, most people would have used it as an excuse (cant blame them) so its great dedication tbh :)

Great stuff mate, considering your finger. Tut tut for straps though, I'm sure you can do much better in a few weeks with those new grippers.

My session was a mess today, chest today was both good and bad.

Dumbbell presses are easy as always.
Then decided to see if I can use the normal bench again, Nope. Same as always, anything above 70kg and my elbows get a stabbing sensation.

Doesn't matter if I use normal form or powerlifting one, always the same. :(

Oh well went back to the dumbbells for incline and even then that pain stayed with me.
Couldn't push more than 27.5kg with fatgrips (31.8 and higher was to painful) , so just did 3 sets with 6 reps with those Gah!
This is super annoying, guess my max on normal bench won't go over 90kg.

Now it's time for some Fastum gel, hot shower, some rubbing. Hopefully I'll be sorted by Thursday for deadlifting.

I think I'd have to loose a hand not to go. Even then I'd fasion some form of hook to allow me to train :p

Yeah hopefully be able to pull a 180/190 raw in the next few weeks.

Hope your elbow sorts itself out!

A good article I just read which I think could be useful to many either now or in the future who are looking to cut, theres a lot of info in their which I think will clash with what most believe, which is what makes it interesting!

It's basically the opposite to what most people regard as right. 3 big meals, skip breakfast, no nuts, you can fast for 3 days before muscle breakdown. But at the end of the day: calorie deficit = weight loss, fact.

Cheers :)

I'm surprised you even need straps for 170 mate, do you use chalk when lifting?
If not, maybe give it a try, I'm sure it'll help to reduce the chance of the bar slipping.

My elbow should be fine, even in and after the shower it feels much better. I just don't understand what I'm doing on the bench to cause it. People there say I my form is great.

But then again the general masses aren't the brightest, I'm sure if Dave Tate looked at me he'd probably have a rage fit and smash me :p

Nope, no chalk. Tbh I probaly wouldnt have needed them today but didn't want to risk making my finger worse!

Don't think we'd really be allowed it. Might just start using it and clearing up after myself. As we only have one bar I don't think people generally would be too happy about being covered in chalk as most of the guys in there are faries.

Same as my gym, reason i use liquid chalk. It stays on your hands, rather than cover everything.

No complaints yet.

Just take care of that finger, last thing you want is to constantly reopen it.

Yeah, deffinatley.

Legs tomorrow and will leg curl as opposed to SLDL. So shouldn't be any reason to re-open it in the gym. Will be careful with it in the workshops tomorrow too.

Have also enquired about some lifting hooks from the chap I get some supps from as he can usually get things in next day. Next back workout is Sunday. Shoulders on Thursday. Hopefully have some hooks my then. If not shrugs will have to wait!
