*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Oh yeah the second Vodafone salesperson I spoke to was a young sounding girl who asked what was so special about the Desire and if I wanted a Legend instead.

I facepalmed over the GSM band at that moment.

Ok this might seem like a stupid question, but how do you NOT have all your Google contacts show up when you type a text? I don't want to see loads of useless contacts. I just want to see my phone contacts!

Also how do you turn off the vibrate on type thing?

Lastly, is there a way to type text in forms on website without it going full screen? Typing here I can't simply select smiles as to type in a text field opens it up full screen and you can no longer see the website.

What exactly does it mean when it says 'by redemption' in the Orange Dialaphone deal?

basically you need to send in a copy of your bill every x-months and they send you a cheaque of a certain amount, over the period of the contract you get back whaever the cash/cheaque back amount is for the deal. you need to remember to send the copy of you bill within a certain time frame of getting that bill otherwise you don't get the cheaque, so check what the t&c etc are before signing up otherwise you'll end up not getting the money back.

was listening to lastfm(downloaded and signed up last night, never used before) last night and I heard the knocking sound I mentioned earlier that I hear while listening to musin and audiobooks.

Manage contacts through Gmail and create a new contact group called "Phone Contacts" in your case then in the phone contacts "menu" choose edit sync groups and sync only the newly created group.

Gmail should be used to manage contacts and group them, the phone then used to display the chosen groups.

I've covered this all before but the more times that this is seen by more people the better, it's the most logical and efficient way to manage contacts on any phone to date and easily backed up via Gmail.

Ok cheers. I'm also synching with exchange. You can't simply search the exchange email address list because you have to add someone after finding them and then email them. This means they show up in your list when sending an SMS or setting up a favourite.

Is there no simple way to hide exchange people that you have emailed? I have gone into the people option under menu and unticked show exchange contacts but they still show up everywhere! Its annoying having to search for an exchange user then adding them and then having the list show up when I'm sending a text!

its still the facebook sync i have a problem with, ive had to delete people with phone numbers as they all appear in the 'phone' menu still, and i have a few where theyre number on FB is 447xxx and if i manually add +447 it thinks its the same number and defualts back to 447, which doesnt work, this is annoying, but not enough to remove fb sync,

why oh why cant i just remove the ones i want from the phone book?!

Heh.

I just phoned up a local CPW who have the HTC Desire in stock and said they can do me a deal on the handset for £80 and a £25 or £20 a month tariff depending on what minutes I want. That includes the web bundles too.

Now the deal clincher for me is that they confirmed all their handsets are unbranded and unlocked direct from HTC. can anyone on Vodafone confirm that the ones they got are unbranded too if they got them from Vodafone direct? I know they're unlocked though :)

It just makes resale way better in 22-24 months time and I should easily make back the handset price above.

Going to pop down later this morning :)

I wish I could do this, can't afford to miss out on the £150 quidco though to pay off my existing contract!

Which do you have Richie?

Ahh, cool.. Mine is the T-Mobile one.... Very subtle diff so didnt realy pay much attention to it. I was expecting it to say "W&W" instead of "Internet" the way ppl were talking as opposed to the subtle diff.

TBH, the T-Mob branding on this phone is non-existant compared to some of their previous whore-ing of a phones firmware so I aint bothered :)

All CPW phones are unbranded/unlocked vanilla phones direct from manufacturer. Network shops (Voda etc) sell branded phones.
