They just keep closing threads, very annoying that they won't give an expected delivery date!!!

If they are not going to bother phoning or are just going to offer crap deals then this is holding up me exploring other options for getting a Desire.

I don't suppose anyone has had any news about Voda stock have they? I'm still waiting without any news![]()

Swype 1.16.12.5228.2.19.apk is what you want to search for.
Could you mail my trust with a link? Searching for that just gets this thread for me
boring.

A 5 second google search brought up quite a few links
http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&q=1....=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=e6d627251be1df84
Go to that address via your Desire and download the file and then use Astro to open and install it.
Works perfectly fine on my Desire.
Their website mods don't know anything anyway. I'd expect them to say they have stock when I've already received it. Has anyone called them recently?
Someone fill me in here, as I understand it the desire has a 1ghz processor, the iphone has a 600mhz processor, why does everything on the iphone appear so much smoother? More specifically scrolling/animations/gaming etc? Is it down to the Sense UI/Android?
And while I'm on the subject, what's up with android games? Why are they all so utterly crap in comparison to the iphone? Is it just a case of being new technology that programmers haven't got to grips with yet?

I did on Saturday, still no luck with stock, one girl told me that I could expect to wait several more weeks.
Fail.
So I got it from CPW instead.
The desire really isn't slow at all but Android is still very new and has several versions on various handsets out right now.
Froyo (Android 2.2) is said to improve performance of Android in orders of huge magnitudes (up to 250% is what's been said). Even still, The Nexus One and Desire are higher spec handsets than the iPhone but you must remember iPhone OS only has to tailor itself to one handset, one spec and it only has to do that single task very well - which is does.
Android has to keep in mind all the different specs out there on different handsets.
Game developers will make games on popular platforms. We won't see high end games until the updated OpenGL runtimes are out (FroYo) and even still Android will need to get a bigger share which is always growing the more people that see these handsets in action.
It's no different to PC Game developers jumping ship to cater to console gamers because that's where the money is because console gamers are chumps but that's another story![]()
