*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Froyo sounds like the ticket, hopefully HTC will roll it out with Sense soon after release.

Hopefully, yes.

However, Donut and Eclair have been kicking around for over 6 months now and Hero owners won't see 2.1 until June at least so I wouldn't count on HTC releasing an update quickly.

That's the Hero, you can bet the Desire 2.2 update will be out pronto.

It is after all the flagship phone next to the Nexus Oneand HTC have already said we're going to get updates on it.

Someone fill me in here, as I understand it the desire has a 1ghz processor, the iphone has a 600mhz processor, why does everything on the iphone appear so much smoother? More specifically scrolling/animations/gaming etc? Is it down to the Sense UI/Android?

As you say, its the animations, rotate an iPad screen and the thing does a beautiful, and hard to describe, rotation thing, Android just jumps. Android rotates faster, but the eye candy of the iPhone OS hides the slowness well

Install Spare Parts and watch it rotate also.

Had a reply back from Vodafone, can extend my current contract by 18 months (until May 2012), pay £15 up front and then £30 a month there after. Thoughts: that's one long contract!

Alternatively I can buy out my current contract for £170 which seems like a waste of money. I however can then sell my current phone for most of that.

Could buy it sim free too. If I was thnking with my head I'd wait for the Iphone to be released to see what that offered (iTunes, bleh...)

Is anyones really slow on GPRS? I had a play on it on friday and it was lightening quick on H, but had a play today on GPRS and my Magic was much faster loading pages (about half the time)... Both on Vodafone.

Just had a look and a little play with one of these in a shop today and they seem really nice :) (also tried the legend which has a nice alu casing but screen wasn't as nice)
The best deal they could do on 24months was £30 tho and £35 on 18months :(

Went into orange and they had stock in the shop but they would only do £35 on 24month contract  :(

Might end up getting the dial-a-phone deal (dolphin30 for £25/m 18month), tried getting the guys in phones4u to match the deal but they said they couldn't :(
