*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

I feed (I wouldn't call them meals! :D) about 5-6x a day! I spend around £70 per week on food as well. Though sometimes it hits the 80 mark, sometimes drops to the 60s. I'm hitting about the same amount of calories as you, though never less than 3200.

The portions are enough to keep me satiated for a couple of hours - though leaves me the scope of almost doubling my intake should I want to. Happy to answer more specific questions if you have any.

Sorry to hear about injury - sucks :( Why has it come back do you reckon? sounds like it wasnt' properly healed I guess?

Probably not being fully healed however i read years ago that once you have a muscular injury it will never fully heal and will always be underlying.

Healing process for the particular muscle normally takes between 6-8weeks for the muscle so i'm 3/4weeks down the line now, benching tonight so will see how it copes under a 115 start again before i bring my warm up weight back to 120.

Cheers for the info FF i'm getting up on my weight now thank god and am probably around 99kg-100kg (after a meal) so things going good. Started doing 200 situps every 3 days (along with oblete work) and its brought the abs back into full show :)

Make sure you dont push too hard. I pulled a muscle or ligament or something around my stomach area a year ago  Just when i think its gotten better something stupid catches it out like turning over in bed and its back to square one :(

I've had the odd twitch here and there before. My left lateral delt quite often twitches away. As does the vastus medialis of my quads. Even had the inner lower of my lats twitching for over an hour! That was annoying!

Stretch marks

I have tried everything on the market to eliminate stretch marks and all usless tbh. The only thing that WORKED! Was exfoliating with a body scrubber, this will fade purple stretch marks over time be patient and do it every day or as much as possible. Failing that, plastic surgery is the only other option for guaranteed results.

Just because you don't want to lift heavy anymore doesn't mean you're not going to lift though does it? :(

If it's for health reasons I can completely understand why - but it would be a shame if you're not still involved somehow in the metal lifting game.

Maybe in time but my size doesn't help my asthma also my rottator cuff needs time to properly heal as I keep aggrovating it every time I do a heavy lift.

Yup I'm not recovered from the past two weeks of pushing my limits.

Today's leg day was a struggle.

Squats
60kgx10
80kgx10
90kgx10 5 sets

SLDL's
60x10 3 sets

Couldn't manage heavier, my lower back was in bits, pumped so much it was painfull and felt some strain.

Calf extensions
110kgx10 3 sets.

Tried some leg extionsions but couldn't manage at all.

So just grabbed my ab wheel and did 10reps for 3 sets. Even doing these actually put strain on my elbows, more precisely the ligaments in my arms. Actually felt a bit of pain so called it quits right there and then.

Loads of stretches after that. I'll be doing some again before bed aswell.

Hopefully I'll be upto heavy lifts again next week, but I'm going light this week without a doubt. Couldn't believe how hard today was.

I had my doubts about training chest with DOMS on my triceps but surprisingly I managed to bench press 130kg for 4 good reps which I haven't done in a while. So I'm pretty happy.

Todays shoulder session was good. Heavier on the whole. Ditched seated smith military press for standing as I haven't done it in a while. So played around with some complexes of cleans, OHP & PC2MP.

Worked my way upto a power clean & ohp of 80KG which is a PB. Never had much more than 70 up for the OHP. Could easily get a push press of 90KG out I think.

Grip on the right is still strong held out well on shrugs @ 140/150KG.

My finger has now pritty much scabbed up and healed apart from the top, which is still red & tender to touch. After my session it had swollen on the top, very nociably about the size of two peas. It looked like it needed draining so I carefully picked away select areas of the scab and got what I could out but it was still pritty damn big! Could see where the skin has been stretched from the size of it!

My old training partner dables in the dark side and is equipped with some sharps so I headed over to his to see what we could do for it. Everything was sterile, surfaces, hands, alcohol wipes, sharp bin the lot. Went at it 3 times at different angle (each with a fresh needle) and didn't really get anywhere so seems to be a pooling of blood/clot. Got through about 12 alcohol wipes. We were being very very careful in regards to hygene. Something that was probaly best tried by a professional but the epic wait in A&E didn't appeal.

I won't go into details about what came out before I headed to his, but pulling part of my cuticle off was the most painful thing I've ever experienced! More so than my tattoo or having my back waxed/epilated!

Actually made a note of what i lifted today as wanted to know the total out of interest :)

Thanks for your replies regarding the stretch marks. I've got some olive oil so I'm gonna try that. Thank god they're only on my bum so far so they won't be seen too often. :p Squatting 3 times a week (Rippetoes) makes your arse blow up! :D
