*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

It's luck of the draw TBH o have some pink tint but I would not be happy with the level of pink my old one had because it makes dimmed screens completely crap looking!

Also I don't know what people were beefing about the Facebook contacts, no problems here! just menu > view and unticl facebook for the People listing.

Looking forward to rooting my Desire...will be interesting to see what sort of stuff the custom roms will unleash.

Anyone finding the screen a bit difficult to read in direct sunlight??...

All phone screens I have seen have been hard to read in sunlight but the AMOLED is better than other phones outdoors.

Id have to say the opposite..my 9700 is perfectly fine to read in direct sunlight but the Desire is a bit more difficult.

Anyhow its no big deal as soon ill have my anti glare screen protector on it.

Mine came in the post yesterday, allthough im still waiting for my new contract sim, so ive slung in my existing sim that my old contract uses (different provider) for now.

Here in Denmark mobile contracts are usually VERY expensive compared to the UK as they can only run for 6 months. Saying that, the phones generally come unlocked or you can unlock them after the first 6 months for free.

How does this sound compared to a UK contract :)

799DKK a month (£93)
unlimited data
unlimited calls to mobile & landline in DK
unlimited txt & sms
unlimited music downloads (6 million choons to choose from)

phone was 1DKK on a 6 month contract & go's down to 699DKK a month after the initial 6 months if you wish to stay with the phone, but I usually upgrade again then.

I seem to have a slight pinkness on the screen, but not to bad, i'll compare it with a mates when I get to work later & post a pic.

I love the speed of this thing compared to my Iphone 3G, the screens fantastic, the touch interface is every bit as good as the Iphone, web browsing seems a lot faster on it etc.

Anyone know how I can import all my contacts from my IPhone?
Anyone know how I can import my web bookmarks?

Cheers,
Matt.

That doesn't seem too bad. To get just unlimited calls and texts in the UK, it costs about £60-75 a month. To get all the extras and a 6 month contract, £93 sounds alright I guess :)

Friendstream just annoyed me with the contacts, i unticked sync and it still didnt help, most prob because half the people on my facebook have stupid comments in the mobile number section. so i disabled it and just use the facebook widget.

Well this rooting isn't going well is it? :P Those not following paulobrien on twitter:

He's got access to write to the system partition, but every time he does he's getting 8 bad blocks on the Desire, 2 on the Legend :(

I've found certain USB cables don't charge properly, well they do but like 1% every ice age - I had a USB cable from another phone which is quite thin, obviously the cable was too thin to pass enough current through to the phone - plugged in the official USB cable directly to the same port and all is well, charge times are normal too. Which leads me to believe the slow PC USB charging via the dock was related to the cable connected to the dock so I'm going to try a higher quality USB cable on it and see how fast it charges.

Puts me off buying cheap USB cable now heh.

o2 c902

Waiting for this on o2 has become a nightmare!
http://www.itproportal.com/portal/news/article/2010/4/27/o2-publishes-details-htc-desire-offer/

My C902 is falling to bits again and desperate to order something new.

hey Lozza,
i too was with o2 with a c902 (always had sony and was out of contract since lasy year, was waiting for the experia x10 until this came along so i jumped ship!)
although i liked the 902 this will blow you away:D..anyway i just couldn't wait any longer for o2 to get this and went via cpw on orange a couple of weeks ago. Happy days!

Anyone know how to get prediction into the browser (for urls maybe, but I don't have it for example on the google input box which is pretty annoying)

Yeah it's just the whole changing contracts, porting numbers etc I am hoping to avoid...fingers crossed it comes to o2 soon!

Just rang Voda and got my PAC. Well, I say got, somebody has to call me back with it

Sick of being offered upgrade deals that are not even as good as the deals they offer new customers. Even the 'twitter' teams deal was £80 more expensive over the contract duration than simply signing up as a new customer. Whats the point?

Why couldnt they just give me the PAC over the phone?

O2 didn't give me mine over the phone either.

I received it by text the next morning.

That wasn't the problem though.. people want facebook contacts but not from all of there facebook friends, just the ones that they choose.

You can filter it in friends and just show phone contacts them link them to facebook 1 at a time.. which i think is what the majority have done but then in the actual contacts section you have hundreds of people you dont care about.. which again stick to people app and you can find people you want to call easily.

Until you come to text when you have to filter through loads of numbers you dont want.

Then orange texts you.. but instead it says it from your friend jimmy on facebook, who thought it was crucial to put "ask me" as his phone number!

I just feel not as in control over my contacts as i would like, if i want to connect a few contacts to facebook!

:D

Hmm not had that problem myself but then again I have only linked certain people to their Facebook profiles on the phone!

I had my first experience of Google maps navigation today, my new handset seems to get HSPA reception much better than the old one, the speed is god like!

I needed to post something to someone and I'm not familiar with post offices in this area at work so loaded up maps, got GPS lock instantly, punched the search button and typed "post", it suggested "post offices" and I clicked that and it overlayed all post offices near me, I clicked the nearest and off it went, perfectly accurate and so so smooth. I even missed one turn but it rerouted instantly as well and it was seamless.

Once I was about 50 yards from the post office Maps automatically switched to street view/picture mode showing me the post office photo and the voice said it was on my right, it was.

I've not had such a smooth and seamless experience on a phone before and I was pretty amazed!
