*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Are the screens on the Desire even glass then? Videos got posted earlier in the thread I think, with people going mental with keys, knives, coins and they didn't seem to scratch at all.. :/

Granted they were videos of other phones, I just thought it'd hold up a bit more.

Will this phone operate on any of the 3G networks in the United States?

T-mobile USA uses European bands. So yes. You might want to use a US sim card tho (That's what I did last month, T-mobile pay and go)

If you use a US sim card it will need to be carrier unlocked I suspect

If you don't use a US sim card expect an INSANE bill at the end of the month, and you'll have to check the "connect with data while roaming" check box in the network menu :)

Aw man, how long ago did you get this? did you request your PAC and get a call back?

Bleh, now I'm annoyed, I've have 2 contracts with 3 for 3 years (haha) and didn't get offered anything like this

Was only with them 18months, Asked for my PAC code, waited a few days, said what T-mobile offered, and they came straight back with that deal, well chuffed!

My research so far suggests it wont, as none of the US networks use 2100Mhz?

Wikipedia and I disagree http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile_USA

It won't work on AT&T 3G (But will on their 2G bands)

Obviously wont work on Verizon or Sprint

EDIT IGNORE ME until I can dig up the Desire specs. My Nexus has run in the US, I'm ASSUMING the radios are the same. We re-edit in a bit

EDIT 2: Make of this what you will http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Desire

I've no idea what it's made of but there's no need to go mental to scratch this screen! Mind you it only shows up when you look at the phone from an angle, looking straight at it with the brightness up it's almost impossible to see. I'm hoping when the cover comes that'll hide the scratches a bit more!

Ok guys two more photos. Do you all reckon this is ok?

I compared it to my managers new one today and his is the same as my own, so i hope its normal enough.

The second image is what i would normally have it at.

Bah. managed to scratch my screen today. :( Feeling an irrational anger towards the ebay retailer who's taken over a week to post my screen protector!

Displex is meant to be alright at getting scratches out too :p

I have irrational fears over scratches etc, it's probably be cause I'm so OCD about things being perfect.

I have mine wrapped up. A lot.

EDIT 3: Couple of places confirm T mobile USA uses 1700MHz and 2100MHz, switching depending on area it seems

UK networks use 2100MHz too I believe, but I've not found anything satisfactory to confirm this.

So as long as your phone is capable of 2100Mhz 3G it can use T Mobile USAs network, although as the 4th largest provider their footprint isn't huge

This is what's lead me to believe you CAN make this phone function in the US

The Desire will work in the US on carriers that use GSM networks. It will not be compatible with CDMA networks such as Verizon and Sprint.

I've had an email from Mobiles.co.uk this morning saying there has been a problem with my card.

Not sure why, I've got the £5 minimum that's needed to check the account.

Any ideas?
