Can you see some spots on each photo? do you think there is something wrong with the lens or camera? or does it just need cleaning?
Looks ok here but those images aren't very big to really check, try photographing a white wall or something to check.
If your's is a fully manual lens just buy some cheap extension tubes, I got some off the bay for £8 delivered and takes my 1:2 to very nearly 1:1.
Dude, you just made my day so much brighter!
Ha thanks, was going to have a go last night but fell asleep watching tv so had a quick go today, always fun with things like this :p

Very nice macro shots! Loving the last flower and that dandelion shot.
As for the spot, it's either lens dust spot or sensor dust. Either one can be sorted with a little dust blowing clean. You can clone them out for those already shot :)

Thanks for the comments :) yh, Ill try give it a clean and see if they go away.

The lens is AF and MF, I bought extension tubes off ebay but I had to get REALLY close to get a focus on them with a 50mm and Im still a newbie to photography so dont know the right aperture and the other setting :S

Heres a link to my Flickr account to see larger images if those were to small.

I forgot to include this in my other shots, not as good as the rest but you know :)

Looking at the larger images I think thats sensor dust but not sure, try a different lens and see if its still there.

I'm pretty new to macro myself and with extension tubes it does mean your minimum focusing distance gets quite close, as well as losing a bit of light means you will really need a tripod and flash or good light to get anything reasonable. I was out testing my extension tubes last week and even with my tripod and sb-400 it was quite hard getting any good shots.

I got this today when I went out for a walk, I go out with the intention of shooting some scenery but always seem to change over to the 105mm macro :D

That was no tripod or flash, only managed a few good shots but this was without ext. tubes.

Wow thats brilliant BruceLee, I couldnt find any insects in my garden today unfortunetly, but I would love to be able to take photos like yours!

Nice poster BruceLee

Superbly done from Mr Jones's photo which was alo very good! and very very cool!

Thanks :) it was only a quick job but I have to say that the good lighting setup helped me with making it :)

Thanks although mine really aren't that good compared to most others, plus you don't want to see the ones I deleted, out of around 200 shots I am lucky to get 2 or 3 which are usable, I just stick it on 4.5fps and shoot away.
I'm not sure if you live near the country but just take a walk out near some fields etc and look around, you just need to be a bit patient and have a good eye :)

Ha, well maybe some parks or something, although I'm sure I look a bit of an idiot shooting macro, so I tend to do it where people aren't around :p
I'm sure if you sit around in your garden long enough you will find some bugs.

I have been busy re doing my aquarium this last week by building and fitting my own 3d background using raw materials (blue slate).

Rather than make a new thread "because I don't care if the image is techinically good or bad" I thought I would post it in here incase we have any fish keepers.

Johnny

Nice aquarium, is the slate actually inside the tank or behind it? That submarine looks great, I've wanted a decent setup myself but I know how hard it is to look after and I know it wouldn't be feasible for me really.
Are you going to add any plants at all or is this the finished setup.

Hello BruceLee.
I built the slate background into the aquarium as the reflection of glass was off putting.
Yeah the sub is much bigger than I expected. I have an aircrafter carrier too but its only as big as one of the pieces so I can't house both in this current tank.

I would like some real plants but I have a little bit more research to conduct befoer adding real plants. I have fake ones but they look rubbish.

How hard?
Well I have overnight become obsessed with my aquairum so for me its really easy but then its coming as 2nd nature to me.

So long as you take your time (thats the key)
follow basic stocking rules and perform regularly maintantance they quite easy to setup.

I was quite pleased with this one for a few reasons. I've just got the camera and this was the first time I've use it since moving from the smaller 1000D.

I didn't have time to attach my speedlite as I knew I'd get one shot at capturing the little fella eating tissue when I was supposed to be keeping an eye on him :D

Lastly everyone told me when I first started that I'd want to convey motion, when I first started complaining about whole shots not being in focus when moving from compact.

Ok not the greatest shot and would need cropping somewhat but in the circumstances I was happy with this one :)

Just some quick ones of birds in my mum and dads back garden. They have got these things pretty tame as I was about 2 foot from the dove. They feed em grapes all the time. Theres a couple of black birds that even come in their back door.

Well I know I'm sometimes forgetful/lazy so any fish in my care usually die after a while, I can't even keep goldfish :D Also As work and social life/trips away are quite usual I don't think I would be able to properly maintain it.

Good job on the slate, so is it secured to the glass in anyway? Thought it might be too heavy for the tank?
