Racist in takeaway last night

Seriously, it's only like the 35th time someone has said that in this thread and it is as moronic now as it was to begin with.
OP, you should have reported this to the police straight away. I'm willing to bet they would have attended quickly if you had told them you had just been punched in the face twice by a gang of idiots. It would have been racially aggravated assault and with the CCTV in the kebab shop and the kebab shop owners as witnesses there would have been a half decent case to run with.
To the OP: Seriously, inform the police, it's a little bit of hassle for you, but as has been said, they will go round to the Dixy chicken and ask for their CCTV, they should comply, as although they are a franchise, they are a big one (can think of at least 2 here in Manchester.) It may take a little while but at the very least, it will have been logged, which gives you more power should anything like that ever happen again.
To those saying the police wont do anything simply because of the OPs skin colour, that's simply rubbish. While you may be right, they may not log it as a hate crime (and whether they should is not as open and shut as you might think), they most certainly want to crack down on gang violence, especially in places like Leeds and Manchester, which already have very bad reps around the country for this sort of thing.
You all make it sound like the police have a tick sheet they use when they receive a call, "is the victim not white? YES/NO, if YES: do something, if NO: say something condescending and hang up." Absolutely and 100% clearly, that is not the case...
Racism toward white folk was always naturally going to happen if you really think about it and how human behaviour works, different cultural beliefs aside, all of us, across the world, work and think in broadly the same way. When a group of people has been persecuted for a very long time, and then laws and social stigma makes that persecution largely go away (on the surface at least), the least intelligent of those groups of people will do things like the OP experienced as they think its some sort of revenge. Clearly, they are wrong, clearly they are simply thugs and idiots. Hence OP, really, report it!

To me, it sounds as if the gang and associated gang mentality was the real issue and that the racial jibe was simply a means of starting something. It certainly could have happened with a gang of white people in there too.
It is maddening though as it feels like there is so little you can do inside the law; of course things like this shouldn't happen to anyone in a civilised country.

Is racism even the issue here. it was a drunken yob, in fact in some respects muppets like that are integrating quite well, just behaving like many of the natives do after a skin full
(just ask any taxi driver).
On a serious, go and report it, the more stuff like this gets reported, the more someone will do something about it, dont listen to the idiots on here, plenty of people from minorities have been done for racist offenses.

but crimes like this need to be reported otherwise our crappy government thinks the stupid ideas they put in place to cut crimes are actually working when its clear to anyone living in the real world that they arent,
seriously it takes 5 minutes max to phone them and report it
thats if the shop has CCTV installed and if it was caught on camera and if the shop owner really wants to take all the crap that comes with allowing the police access to their CCTV equipment.
If a crime has been commited isn't it evidence and you have to hand it over?

He didn't. That **** in the takeway verbally abused him, then pushed through to committing racially motivated assault, and the OP didn't even bother phoning the Police afterwards. I suppose the next victim of this wannabe "Gangsta" will have the OP to thank for his beating or worse seeing as he's just amply demonstrated to this thug that there are absolutely no consequences to acting in such a fashion. Nice one.
