LOL, people whining that they left it until gone 9pm to vote but then couldn't because of the large queue.

How about getting off your arse earlier in the day

yea well some people work... and work a fair distance from home

is turning up an hour before closing REALLY so unacceptable ? id certainly expect to get to vote within that hour

Can someone explain the swing to me please? Why exactly is it such a good thing for the Tories, if Labour got the seat anyway?
As if it's the same swing (migration of votes) across the country, Tory's will pwn Labour in marginal seats. These are swings in Labour strongholds.

The two seats are VERY safe Labour seats (in so far as Labour had a very large majority in 2005) and they were always going to hold onto them.
However, the swing shows that a lot more people are moving to the Conservatives.
This will be exemplified in the tighter seats where there is only a few %age points. 11% swing to the Tories is going to have a big effect where Labour have a 3% majority.

It's more for worry stats. i.e. in a Labour strong hold, if there's swing of up to 11%, imagine on a contested seat in some other region, it'll swing more in favour of the Conservatives.

I like the way we're seeing this complete waste of public money right in front of us. What a joke this Sunderland malarkey is, I bet theres nearly as many counters as there are voters.

Sky news sources say some polling stations (including Newcastle upon Tyne) allowed to stay open until all people have voted. I thought that was expressly prohibited. How is this fair for those turned away in other constituencies?
