The SNP would not do a deal with labour. They will support or oppose whatever government wins power on an issue by issue basis while trying to get the best deal for Scotland.

Scotland has quite clearly rejected the Conservatives. If they won't help their own electorate avoid a Conservative leadership, then they're idiots.

The problem is which seats do you give them?

You use a single transferable vote in a multi-member constituency.

Even if you create larger blocks to allow multiple seats for a larger area, you lose the local MP system we've had forever.

So what? You still have a local MP system. It's just a different version.

No. They just have principals. The SNP see absolutely no difference between Labour and Conservative. As Alex Salmond calls them, "Tweedledum and Tweedledee".

Something needs to be done about this system, its ridiculous.

Labour 227 seats, 7,565,177 votes
Liberal Democrat 48 seasts, 6,034,583 votes

wat?

Look at the map as well of areas, almost the entire map of England is blue lol, huge majority but might not be able to govern?

wtf happened? The Conservatives were supposed to absolutely pummel the last lot.

I wouldn't worry yet, it's not over.

If it's hung there will be quite a large amount of wheeling and dealing in the coming days, as Nick Robinson said, Brown will be under immense pressure to resign from the papers/public so who knows what might happen.

Yes, because principles alone give you power in the House of Commons. This situation gives them immense power, which they would be failing to use. Like I said, they would be idiots.

How can so much support for Labour still be present?

Conservative 282 88 2 +86 9,717,981 36.5 +3.9
Labour 227 2 81 -79 7,628,286 28.6 -6.5
Liberal Democrat 48 5 12 -7 6,076,836 22.8 +1.0

Only 2mil less votes than the Tories so still a lot of people voting for them. However quite a large number of LD votes, shame they haven't done enough to get more seats - it would have been interesting to see them get more votes than Labour.

My constituency actually had a 1% swing towards Labour, with an 18% majority. I knew voting was a waste of time :(. My mums is even worse, 50% Labour majority!

I am outraged at all these people who have not been able to cast their legal right to vote. This is terrible, each area knows how many people are in that area and should have made adequate arrangements to handle that area. Already heard of an area in Sheffield with 5000 people who were not able to cast their vote. Utter disgrace I think.

Something should be done about this immediately. They should still be able to cast their vote today, as there is an area in north Yorkshire where people cannot vote till I think the 30th May due to one of the members of a constituency passing away very recently.

Because a lot of people lived through thatcher and don't want it again.
