So do you advocate a collation of net losers? Both lost seats and votes this election. Furthermore, with that logic, a Lib-Con pact would represent the will of the people much better than a lib-lab one, and if people stopped frothing at the mouth and actually looked at the policies of the parties, would probably make more sense if Cameron offers the olive branch of a free vote on political reform.

I'm not sure what the best outcome from here is. It's not clear that Lib-Lab even could form a coallition with sufficient weight to carry the day. My point is simply that the notion that a Lib-Lab pact would be devoid of legitimate mandate is void. Especially if they continue on a platform of electoral change, given that this election has once again highlighted the unfair nature of our system.

The tories did far better than Labour did in 2005.
Correct.

The majority of the British public never trusted Labour either.

And the majority have made it clear they still don't trust Conseratives either.

No, that confirms that the system is biased in that the same proportion of the vote leads to different results depending on the party.

My point still stands that the majority of the country have not voted for the Conservatives. So a Hung Parliament is the correct and fair outcome based on the votes of the country as a WHOLE.

Brown Holds Seat With Increased Majority link

Are they stupid up there?

BROWN was never elected he is an imposter

WORST PM EVER !

Actually as was just pointed out on the BBC two previous tory leaders were also unelected. Must be john major and harold macmillan.

Correct.

more people voted for the tories.

this just shows how much of a mess our country is in, GB won't resign even though Conservatives have majority of the seats, what a sham this hung parliment puts great britain in no mans land, not the best place to be IMO. :(

The Conservatives don't have a majority. They have more seats than any other party, but they don't have a majority of the seats. Hence hung parliament.

We could end up with a government that the majority never voted for :(

That's not unusual at all.

Even if a party had got a majority of the seats, that doesn't mean they got a majority of the vote.

For example in 2005, Labour won by a majority of 66, with 356 seats (to the Conservatives 198 and the Lib Dems 62). But still only had 35.3% of the total vote.

Even in 1997 when Labour had their largest ever majority (419 seats), they still only had 43.3% of the vote. Which means that over half of the voting public didn't vote for them.

When, in recent memory, have the majority ever voted for the government? Thatcher/Mayor held power for 18 years, never with more than 45% of the vote, ditto the 13 years of Brown/Blair.

A Lib-Lab or a Lib-Con coallition would actually have been voted for by >50% of the electorate.

Here's what will probably happen.

A coalition gonvernment will be formed

Brown will stay (unfortunately)

this country will go down the ******

people who voted Labour will regret it big time

and in 2015 the Conservatives will win by a land slide and spend the next decade dragging the country back to it's feet.

Simples

Thats if the world lasts past 2015

Brown is not the worst PM ever, not by a long fscking shot. Read some history.

Rather than reading History I am living it! Watch this space the real crisis hasn't even started yet.

Greece is nothing compared to the mess we are in, also He will go down in the annuals of time as the PM who presided over the state sponsored erosion of out heritage and culture by unchecked no sorry planned mass migration.
