Apparently, Salmond is offering SNP and Plaid Cymru support...

258 + 57 + 6 + 3 = 324 = enough.

Green, SDLP and Alliance could also through their seats in.

What is the cost though... Given that both Wales and Scotland are more heavily reliant on public funding and therefore more obvious places to cut...

Do Labour care? They've already given Scot/Wales/NI so much more than Eng.

The way I can see it, is PR would mean we'd never ever have a Tory government again. Lib/Lab coalition = mightily powerful.

If that alliance takes place and isolates Wales/Scotland from the cuts then I will happily see both of those countries go independent and fend for themselves without our money.

It would be absolutely ludicrous for England to endure all the cuts when public money is so overused in Wales/Scotland and public overspending is the main reason the deficit is so damn high.

If the Lib Dems end up in that deal I would hope that the majority of their voters see the move for what it is, another selfish 'old politics' manouvre designed to benefit themselves alone and not done for the good of the people. They would sell the country down the river financially for the sake of proportional representation which would increase their parliamentary influence.

Scotland and Wales have far too much influence over politics in England, given that England is far and away the largest and most successful country in the United Kingdom.

There is no way the English electorate will tolerate a ring-fencing of Welsh and Scottish public spending. Brown would rapidly see his ratings drop to about 10%.

There is nothing we could do though?

This is why I hate Hung Parliaments (and hence PR) - as it's all back-room deals without our say. You never get what you vote for.

I need another hug :-(

I wouldn't be so sure, millions of English people voted for Labour the other day, despite Labour handing huge swathes of our money to Wales and Scotland year after year.

A coalition like that wouldn't be stable for very long, and all those english lib dem and labour MP's who value their seats would soon start to object as their support drops...

lol, Labour SNP Plaid Liberal Green alliance is the most unstable sounding thing I've ever heard of.

Apparently Salmond has said it would be stable enough to push PR through...

.... I feel thus never, ever having Tory government again

how can you be so sure, how do pc and the snp differ from lib and lab?

I'd be very sure. A hidden difference in the distribution of public spending and tax receipts, is far removed from losing over 90 seats in an election and then the following week doing a deal with the SNP and PC on the basis of the ring-fencing of Scottish and Welsh public spending to keep you in office. The electorate would see through that one very, very easily!

If PR goes through I think it might be time to vote BNP.
Or Monster raving... whatever.

You're giving the electorate credit. All over facebook* people are saying everything must be done to keep out the Tory's. It seems, even spending money and sacrificing dignity.

* I appreciate the LibDem seat losses highlights how flawed (relying on) this medium is.

oh I do hope so:D

You may not like Tories now... but who's to say in the future?
Labour have done bad things to this country over the last 13yrs.

We'll see.

I already thought Labour did enough to have hardly anyone vote for them over the last thirteen years, but apparantly despite all the wrongs they still received huge support.

You simply can't trust the North of this country to vote for anyone except Labour, they hold too much of a grudge over the Tories and still firmly believe them to be a bunch of toffs who want to help the rich and let the poor starve.

Most of them would rather vote Labour, help the Scots/Welsh and continue to live in their public overspending fuelled bubble than go anywhere near putting a cross in the Tory box on a ballot paper.
