Not sure how this is going to work. As soon as he resigns as PM the Queen will invite someone else to form a Government, surely Labour don't have the time to get someone else in so she'll invite David Cameron to do it and it'll make no difference?
He's not resigning till after the summer?

If their plan is just talk to Labour as leverage to get more out of the Tories that's just wrong.

Why is it wrong?

If Labour want any hope of winning the next election then they simply must get Alan Johnson as their new leader. Milliband (Blair 2.0) or Balls (Brown 2.0) will be hopeless.

So, the parties that came 2nd and 3rd will end up forming the new government, well that's nice and fair then. I'm sure the public will be really pleased*.

If there is electoral reform the 23% who voted Liberal will be happy.

If Labour don't entirely lose their grip on power the 29% who voted Labour will be happy. That's over half the country happy. I rather suspect the SNP, PC and the Greens will be happier with a Lib-Lab pact than the Conservatives.

That as opposed to just 36% of the population who backed Cameron.

Cameron got first bat at forming a coherent plan for government. That is right, he got more of the vote. But the notion that a Lib-Lab pact isn't a legitimate outcome is twaddle.

(Although, tbh, I don't see it happening. They don't have the seats. The only real reason for the Libs to go with Labour is to get electoral reform, and I think enough of Labour's backbenchers who oppose that to make it untenable)

Fingers crossed that this is just being used as leverage by the LibDems to get some cast iron concessions on electoral reform from the Conservatives, could be useful for DC too in that he can honestly say to his party that if they want power they'll have to accept certain things.

Love the Labour MP (John Mann) they're interviewing at the moment.

"The right decision for the country, the labour party, and for Gordon. Gordon Brown will now be remembered as the most successful chancellor the country has ever seen"

No, just choosing who is not the leader of the Labour party :)

Labour: We choose Mr Bob as our new leader.
Lib: Wahhhhhh! We don't like him. Deal is off.
Labour: Er... okay... brb. Lol.
Labour is afk.
Labour: We choose Mr Smith as our new leader...? Is that better?
Lib: He smells.... Look if you're not serious we'll go back to Dave.
Labour: No no! Give us a minute...

etc....

Indeed, I issued a few expletives in his direction when he said that, delusional moron.
