Indeed it was...sad in many ways he was so unfulfilled. Flawed in many ways but he had principles and was one of the great political minds of the last two decades...

As many of you are aware I'm sure, I am a Conservative, but I feel that Gordon Brown has just resigned with dignity and honour as befits an outgoing Prime Minister.

I am unashamed to say that I found his speech moving and he has risen dramatically in my estimation of him as a man, if not a politician.

Very well said.

Respect to Brown for a dignified exit today, even if he wasn't so dignified yesterday.

I do feel for the man having to give up office having never been approved by the British people, it must hurt not having that recognition for something he clearly has put a lot of effort into.

Why is our official government car W reg? I mean... 10 years old?!

He should have a brand new Jaguar XJ.

It's called saving money and new armoured jag cars are crap. :p

Yup it was a good speech :)

Well, now let's see what Cameron & Clegg have managed to put together!

And also I'm looking forward to seeing how Cameron does as PM - it's easy to be the leader of the Opposition, the real stuff starts now. Look how Blair aged about 30 years in his time as PM and how he's now got 10 years younger since leaving :p

Got to agree with that.

I'm surprised the overwhelming feeling is that Brown is leaving politics all together.

Maybe he's just mentally done from being rejected by the public and all his bad luck with personal gaffes.

Sums up your IQ.

You have to get used to that fact that how most lefties hate Thatcher, most right-wing people will feel about Brown. His name is go down in history as a figure for hate for generations like Thatcher has. I will never trust Labour ever again as long as i live. Blair duped me in 97, fool me once....

Indeed as much as a fan of the Tories that I am, now is when he really starts to earn his money.
