So in my Ignorance, I have not seen this, Clegg will be deputy prime minister. I've always felt that, that wasn't a very powerful role, but to be fair, that was in a majority parliment. And Prescott sticks in my mind. Maybe Cleggs legacy will be punching a member of the public also. Do you think he has much say as deputy PM?

It does seem strange to me, as the most of the parties policies are (seems) miles apart.

To be fair I'm a bit shocked to find out clegg is deputy pm.
Actually, it's a largely insignificant role, read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deputy_Prime_Minister_of_the_United_Kingdom

Unlike analogous offices in some other nations, including the United States Vice Presidency, a British Deputy Prime Minister possesses no special powers above those of his or her ministry. He or she does not assume the duties and powers of the Prime Minister in the latter's absence or illness

I am realistic, I know I am going to get shafted :(

I just want to see a fair tax burden applied to all. I don't think the current system is fair, but that's perhaps a matter for another thread.

I can see where you're coming from. I'd like to earn more. I'd like to retain more of my earnings, but surprisingly we do need taxation and we do need redistribution.

I don't share the socialist mantra of the outgoing government but do realise that the scale needs tilting towards the poorer end of society. Recent report on inequalities is calling for a "more progressive taxation system" so count yourself lucky!

Even though this must've been pointed out before, this thread has taken on connotations of a football thread, I guess that is inevitable. I am astonished to see Clegg as deputy and Cameron as PM. Even though this country needs a stable government, but their views on europe is enough to spark descent in their respective parties.

I'm quite biased, but:

Labour's Ed Miliband tweets: We owe Gordon a huge debt: Britain is a fairer country and our world is more just because of what he did.

WTF did he do to make the world better/just? He's not the only one to have said it today.

That's what I suspected. Do you know atleast if there will be a referendum in regards to PR? As I seem to be wading through a lot of pooh on BBC
No sir. Not in this Parliament.

They have "aspirations" for a referendum on AV. Their electoral reform focusses more standardised constituency size and fixed term parliaments (5yrs).

I'm not sure if that was a sarcastic comment or not, but giving you the benefit of the doubt, I agree there has to be a redistribution, but it's completely weighted in favour of the feckless and work shy. That's just wrong.

Can somebody summarise the good/bad things that 'should' come from Cameron being in power?

It is truly refreshing to see an actual change in politics. I really hope this works out, and if it does, we have a template for how government should work under PR...

I agree, I do hope this works but I have my doubts. I am glad they have adopted the first £10,000 Income Tax free

That's the beauty of the fixing of the tax bands, it rewards the workers, especially if some of the tax is shifted to non-essential spending taxes.

Cheers. Seems to me that the lib dems swallowed a whole lot excrement, considering the press woul've had you believe that they were the king makers.

Which is a shame really as PR would truly Government more of a three horse race. (right?) Well. that's is they PR has been documented to me.
