Anyone here gone from the iPhone to the Desire?

Any short falls they have noticed or comments they could make?

I have gone from 3gs to the Desire.

My thoughts are the iPhone just works out the box and you need to fiddle with droid to get the best of it, but I like that sort of thing being a techie

The market place needs a bit of work, but no where near as cluttered as Appstore, but i do like the whole get an app from a QR barcode that is very cool.

It takes a bit of getting use to from the move, I am using the default keyboard and I find its on bar with the iphones, but the numbers button is the bottom right so catch that on occasion.

I like the ease of customisation, I can put what apps/widgets where I want not where Apple want me to.

I find it much faster than the iphone, but then the 3gs is what nearly 12 months old?

It is early days yet for me with android and I am getting use to it. Music management is what the iphone did very well, may or may not like itunes, but that system worked really well, but then on the flip side I can now just drag the music from my folder to the SD card, so really its all swings and rounder-bouts.

@Khaaan - Had a look in networks and only have normal o2 in there, but I still get data on it, will do a speedtest in work where I get H or use to and see what happens

Excellent thanks for posting those thoughs ;)

Linpack on my Nexus One: 6.8 - 6.9

I would treat the 2.2 scores with caution, the JIT complier might well produce such a speed boost in Linpack, but that won't translate to anywhere near the same speed boost in general usage.

The latest custom roms also move the dalvik cache to SD as well so users get over 140MB to install apps on instead of the sub 100MB by default.

Nobody knows yet how Android 2.2 will use apps2sd - I think they will use a half half methods maybe where paid/protected apps remain on the phone and the rest get installed to sd - this would keep paid apps from being widely shared by people I guess.

Then again apps2sd requires a Linux partition which won't be easily read by just anyone out of the box so maybe they'll just allow everything to install to sd.

Hmm

I've heard of people setting up 'Virtual credit cards?' to buy from the American Playstation store before, is there a similar way to purchase from the Android market?

There is indeed but there are fee's for these as well:p

just sign up for a nationwide bank account , sort of fee free..... Certainly the best out there ;)

Just finished a call to my other half, the screen wouldn't come back on to end the call. I've had it take a few seconds before (10-15) but this was more like 5 minutes.

Any Ideas, I know it has a proximity thingummy......is it knacked?

What do you guys use to check Facebook? Facebook for HTC Sense app or the touch website?

cheers

I use the official Facebook app and its widget. Don't like Friend Stream as it doesn't parse images/urls properly in status updates.
