*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

lol, they changed it from 200meg to *unlimited*, so I guess its just a case of pushing it till you get a slap round the chops. :D

Wasnt the 200mb for PAYG though??...anyhow it all depends on whether you get a signal when using O2 and whether or not their data network is fast because ive heard its pretty slow lol.

Note that you can debrand by flashing the default Desire firmware without rooting; just need to create a goldcard.

Do you have any more info or links on this? Should be getting my new phone next week.

Found some guides for it, but will this void your warranty with Orange?

Hey, i bought my unbranded/unlocked pay as you go Orange esire from CPW, sticking my o2 sim card in it (i pay £15 a month for web and texts <unlimited>).

Has anyone done this and got 3g internet, mms etc working. o2 won't let me download the settings. I'm assuming i'll have to set some APN's for these, but if anyones got some instructions that work that would be great ;)

are you on the simplicity for smartphones 12month 'contract' or the payg?

I have the simplicty and all I had to do was stick the sim into the desire and it got all the settings itself if I recall correctly, been little under 2months since I got it on payg from cpw.

think you might have to enter 901 for the voicemail the first time you try using it, but other then that it got the sms/mms and internet settings(you get a choice between o2 postpay(wap) and o2 mobile web(3g)).

i haven't tried sending a mms but I recieved it ok when my sister sent me one think was last month.

I've experimented with tethering but was only briefly and never heard anything from o2, going to try experimenting on a longer period to see what happens.

last month I used like 400mb but would have been more if I didn't have wifi turned on at home, this month I've used like 200-300mb so far without turning wifi on at home and have couple of weeks to go before the next billing period so will se what happens. when I first got the desire used like 100-200mb within the first couple of days.

still not recieved the official screen protector, it was dispatched on the 13th and at least 1 person recieved it the following day.

I am on pay as you go (no idea of its simplicity, just a sim i bought a few months ago as my old sim wasnt 3g. The mobile internet doesnt work at all at the moment.

If you're pay as you go any chance to can copy your settings in the different APNS? (should be one for internet and one for mms *i think*), n ot sure about the passwords tho.

I have e-mails o2 to see what they say, but remains to be seen if i get a reply.

The BBC now have dedicated mobile live radio streams available.

I'm trying to bookmark the URL of a stream so it plays automatically without the BBCs warning about data usage. However, the bookmarking in the default browser won't let me remove the "http://" part of the URL (it's a media stream, rtsp://).

any ideas how to force it to accept rtsp://blah?

Has any got any particularly good deal with this phone on three? I'm currently on a 12 month contract with them but theres no way i'll get less then an 18 month now i reckon..

They only advertise 24 month contracts and removed the cheaper tariffs due to lack of supply. Usually you will have to wait for the last 30 days of your contract and see what they offer you (often this will be crap, with lies to deceive you into thinking its a better deal than it is - "this phone is better than the Desire", "this is the same as a Desire", etc).

Then ask for you PAC code. You will receive a call from retentions to offer you a better deal. You may try haggling here again to see if there is something more appropriate for you.

There's still no guarantee that you'll get anything like a good deal. Currently there is virtually zero upgrade stock and only new customer stock is being sold.

Yeah i noticed when i popped into a three shop yesterday and matey in there said they have done away with all but 24 months which i think is crazy! But he said i was due an upgrade and to give them a call. They have this phone with unlimited text, internet and 500 mins for £30 a month which is £5 less then i'm paying now i think so i might see if i can knock that down to 18 months..

Yeah I popped into three at the weekend and they said they weren't getting them in stock till next month. Phoned the upgrade line and the best they could offer me was £24 a month for 24 months of unlimited internet/texts with 100 minutes. I had made a sneaky purchase of it at £22 a month last Monday though so just gonna cancel my three contract. Although saying that the phone still hasn't been delivered. :(

I ordered mine now, gave in as i'm tired of my N900 on it's dying platform :p

Pending stock at MPD, should be some in next week.

Got Red Dead Redemption to play while waiting for this, so it's all good :D
