*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Does any UK network actually allow tethering of any sort? I was under the impression they all banned it.

Most networks have banned it, but it still works as they don't physically stop you. However T-Mobile DO let you on certain plans, think they call it WnW Plus or something

Mobile web won't be there because it was originally on Orange... some weird thing about switching carriers & o2 refusing to send the details to the phones. God knows why.

I bought a desire locked to t-mobile, put my o2 sim in and unlocked it... couldn't get the details for data.

Did a bit of searching... came up with this - http://forum.o2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=144262#144262

worked perfectly :)

Later on I flashed to the generic HTC ROM (gold card needed, not rooted) and then on first boot it picked up the o2 settings straight away.

Bizarre...

Looks like the page i used for the settings :)
Also can see my contacts in mms after a reboot, although i do need to set that up now.

Great tried tethering last night, and currently use a T-Mobile Dongle for my internet.

Yip my desire tethering internet from the same company is so so much faster. I'm talking my dongle hardly loading pages sometimes not for an hour or two. With the Desire working just magically.

Why T-Mobile? Just why?

Argh! Got an email from MPD saying they may not get any stock until the 2nd week of June.

I got this email too.

Hopefully they will be able to pull it forward a bit as it says :(

Don't think there is much point paying a bit more and getting it from elsewhere, when nowhere seems to have much stock at the moment.

Gah, hate waiting! :p

Ok, I spoke to one of the online web support chaps and they seemed VERY unsure about getting any stock in soon, even about the second week of June

3-4 weeks is a ridiculous waiting time in this day and age to be quite honest.

So I cancelled it and went with mobiles.co.uk, who have stock and should post it today :p

anyone have a similar issue to myself...

I have biggish hands, and when i hold the phone the edge of my palm will often touch the screen, confusing the phone.

got to learn to hold it with a flat palm...

I've had that once or twice, mainly in landscape playing a game. Soon figured out what was happening so it doesn't annoy me if it happens.

T-mobile on certain plans & other operators if you pay their extra fees.

The problem for them is, when you have something like the desire (or my old HD2) it's very easy to not have to pay their extra fees.

People like O2 shouldn't claim "unlimited" internet if they don't mean it hehe.

Always coil, just plug in the usb install HTC sync and click share internet wig computer on the usb options box

Doesn't always work - no idea why... but it can be temperamental.

I used a little program called pdanet... it's a free little client you install on the phone and computer & works perfectly - I haven't had a single problem with it.

If you root your phone... it's also possible to get wireless tether working - but more hassle than it's worth imo... especially with how it drains your battery, I'd rather have it cabled which probably reduces latency a bit too...

Froyo (Android 2.2) will be coming with wireless tether built in... and usb tether issues should be fixed.

Is this because it is for the Nexus One?

No.... it's because it's a dump from the SDK emulator
