My bedroom gets insanely hot! What can I do?

If you can't sleep because it is so hot; get a couple of flannels, soak them in cold water, wring them dry, fold one and put it on your forehead, and fold the other and put it on the inside of one of your wrists. One on the forehead should do the job though.

Can anyone recommend a small air con unit that would be suitable to move from room to room? They all look massive in the pics.

get a fan and put it in front of your window to suck in fresh air and have your door open so it can circulate.

Suck in air yes along with all the hot weather bugs too so your room will be circulating dead insect parts too.

Nice!

Just fit a cheap ceiling fan if you've got a bit of a DIY hand and job done.

That still quite big - something hand held would be good. :D

Do they chuck much heat / moisture out the back? Can you stick the hose into a wall vent or would that cause damp?
LOL hand-held. They do give off a bit of heat, but the cooling effect more than mitigates this (would be rather... pointless if it didn't :p ). You can put the hose wherever you like. You can put it in a wall vent as long as the water isn't just pouring in to your walls (i.e. it goes all the way through and out the other side). You can put it in a bucket and empty it when it's full.

I got a huge tower fan for just £35 last year, kept the temperature tolerable over the last couple of days.

Dont need it today though, its nice and cool for a change.

I hate summer. Even with my PC turned off for half the day my room wouldnt cool down at all (yes windows are open, heating is off).

So just bunging the end in a bucket would be ok?

Read that as handjob at first.

:D

My bedroom and main workspace is in my loft -_- , Which happens to have full heat insulation :o . I have both velux windows wide open , a fan at max speed and an air-con unit all working , and I STILL cannot get the room cool. Turning off the pc makes very little difference..

I got a projector, pc, and 360/ps3 with a wall of mirrors. It gets INSANELY HOT. I put a wet cloth on a fan and have that going, I have my bedroom windows open, I open the loft door and bathroom window to create an updraft. Its still hot but its far better than what it usually is.

Forgot to mention, I only have my underwear on.

Solutions:

1: Go out, enjoy the sun, cool down by the wind and if hot sit in the shade.
2: Aircon.

I for one love this heat, all the girls in hotpants/shorts :).
